Super Junior-M’s Henry and Zhou Mi taught Chinese to SM artists

Super Junior-M‘s Zhou Mi (27) and Henry (24) sat down for an interview with Chosun and revealed a few things you may have not known about the Chinese members of the sub-unit.
On the response in China for their group performing “Break Down” in Korea, Henry and Zhou Mi stated,  “The video of us performing a Chinese song on a Korean music show has already exploded on Chinese sites.”
Zhou Mi revealed how he discovered K-pop by sharing, “My hometown is Wuhan, Hubei. But ever since I was young, the popular artists among my friends were Korean artists. Ever since elementary school, I’ve heard many times that I was the doppelganger of H.O.T‘s Kangta. As I watched the Korean singers who can both sing and dance well, I thought to myself that even if I never became a singer in Korea I would still learn a lot of beneficial things. I entered the 2007 UCC audition and sang Toy‘s ‘That I Was Once By Your Side‘, and unexpectedly I was accepted.”
Henry also shared how he joined SM Entertainment stating, “I am a Canadian who was raised in a Chinese family in Toronto. Although I liked singing and playing instruments, I had no thoughts of becoming a singer. But a friend said to me, ‘If I were you, I would definitely win’, and asked me to enter the 2006 Global audition in Toronto. I was one of the only two chosen in an audition among 3,000 contestants, and I even surprised myself. As a new trainee, I met TVXQ for the first time and greeted them the same way I always do saying, ‘What’s going on man? Nice to meet you’ and took out my hand. But when I did that, the look on the sunbaes’ faces changed dramatically.”
Zhou Mi revealed he also helped teach his label mates the Chinese language, “I helped other groups learn Chinese. I taught Girls’ Generation‘s HyoyeonTiffanyf(x)‘s Luna, and various other members on their pronunciation after school. When the Super Junior members recorded their Chinese rap portion, I once stayed in the studio for 12 hours correcting their pronunciation.”
When asked to rate their career out of a total of 100 points, the members gave themselves 60 points and revealed there are still things they want to accomplish.
Henry shared his goals, “We want to show ourselves more often in Korea. We also want to perform in countries such as Russia, Spain, and Brazil. There are a lot of fan letters sent asking for us to go to those places.” Zhou Mi stated, “I want to meet fans through acting and as an MC in Korea. The other 40 points we sill achieve in the Hallyu homeland.”
Besides from their “Break Down” promotions, Zhou Mi recently starred as the lead actor in Chinese dramas and Henry is currently showing his culinary prowess in ‘Master Chef Korea Celebrity‘.
