Hyomin’s ‘Gisaeng Ryung’ reveals three promotional posters

In light of its impending August release, three promotional posters for horror movie “Gisaeng Ryung” have been revealed!

The first poster embodies the concept of ‘terror’, as it captures a young child glaring straight at the viewer; the child stands in between actress Han Eun Jung and T-ara’s Hyomin, who both have frightened expressions on their faces.

The second poster was shot under the concept of ‘chills’, and portrays a ghost of a young child scowling from a large pot.

The last poster once again embodies that feeling of ‘horror’, as it shows a child with two contrasting faces, standing in between a terrorized Han Eun Jung and Hyomin.

‘Gisaeng Ryung’ is a horror movie dealing with an unknown crime that occurs when a ghost of a child (who was killed unjustly) possesses someone else’s body. Han Eun Jung, No Min Woo, Hyomin, andHwang Ji Hyun have been cast for the movie, and it’s slated to hit theatres on August 4th.

f(x) passes the baton for music performances to CSJH

f(x) and CSJH’s Dana & Sunday revealed their close relationship by uploading pictures of the two groups posing together. While f(x) were in their bold red stage costumes, CSJH showed off their chic femininity in matching black outfits. The two groups look like they are actually one because they all look so friendly and comfortable with one another, even posing as one group in the above picture.

On the day these pictures were taken, f(x) said good-bye with performances of “Pinocchio” and“Hot Summer”, while CSJH made their comeback as a two-member unit with “One More Chance”. f(x) has passed the baton and will hopefully get to rest while CSJH promotes their electronic dance song, which has an addictive melody with a beat that is both strong and elegant.

Check out the two groups below as they first pose seriously then lighten up with cute expressions! In addition, the girls also posed with SHINee’s Key, Minho and Taemin who was also at Inkigayo for a special stage with f(x) last Sunday.

KARA responds to Jang Hye Jin’s powerful version of “Mister”

KARA’s Gyuri and Jiyoung couldn’t hide their joy as Jang Hye Jin performed a cover of their hit song, “Mister“, on the set of “I Am A Singer“.

On July 10th, KARA’s Jiyoung posted, “Jang Hye Jin sunbaenim… I’m so honored that you sang our song. I was inspired. The powerful performance was so cool!

Additionally, Gyuri also commented, “Jang Hye Jin sunbaenim just sang the song “Mister” on “I Am A Singer”…! Her performance was powerful and impressive; she added her own color to the song and the performance was spectacular… Thank you so much for choosing our song,”Mister”, sunbaenim!

MBC’sSunday Night- I Am a Singer” aired live on July 10th and the week’s challenge for the episode was titled, ‘The song I want to sing on stage‘. The challenge was divided into 4 rounds; on the first round, Jang Hye Jin sang a remake rock version of KARA’s “Mister”.

In contrast to the last two contests where she sang slow and bittersweet ballads, Jang Hye Jin accompanied a powerful dance choreography with strong vocals giving an inspiring performance bringing the crowds to cheers. Jang Hye Jin reared away from her original image wearing a showy outfit and finished it off with ripped pair of rocker jeans. She even imitated KARA’s trademark dance from the song, shocking the judges as well as the audience.

Before the contest, Jang Hye Jin said, “I really wanted people to think that I was crazy (on stage)” with a determined expression on her face.

After the contest in where she placed last after the audience voted, she critiqued, “I wasn’t too pleased with today’s performance either” and added, “It’s not an easy stage. On the next contest, I think the key is to have a performance that pleases me” showing disappointment.

Even before the contest, mobile online ranking and research site, tillionpanel, had a result stating 19.1% (out of 3247 voters) of the voters were most anticipating Jang Hye Jung’s next performance.

Which idol has the most anticipated swimsuit body?

Which idols were chosen for having the most anticipated swimsuit bodies?

According to July 11th’s SBS Inkigayo’s Star Ranking corner, 33 artist idol teams and staff members completed a survey on the topic of who they most wanted to see in a swimsuit.

After School’s UEE received the most votes from male idols and staff. This result isn’t too surprising as UEE is known not only for her fabulous body but also for her swimming skills. Following behind UEE was SISTAR’s Bora in 2nd, After School’s Nana in 3rd, f(x)’s Victoria in 4th, and SNSD’s Yuri in 5th.

Bora has been receiving much attention as she recently promoted “Ma Boy” with SISTAR19. She even received the nickname ‘Barbie doll‘ for her beautiful physique. The idols also noted that Nana would look great in a swimsuit because of her long legs. Victoria’s curvacious body has been made by her many years of dancing. Finally, Yuri’s tight abs and tanned skin is quite fitting for the hot summer.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, the female idols selected MBLAQ’s Lee Joon as their top choice by a wide margin of votes. Following behind Lee Joon was the beastly idol Jay Park who received many votes from the staff members in their twenties. Third belonged to the bagel guy, 2PM’sNichkhun. Fourth and fifth place went to the two ‘Inkigayo’ MCs B2ST’s Lee KiKwang and 2AM’s Jo Kwon, respectively.

Do you agree with this list? Which idol are you most looking forward to seeing in a swimsuit this summer season?

Movie Review: WHITE Melody of Death

Last month, T-ara member Eunjung’s first film in which she plays the leading role, ‘WHITE: Melody of Death‘, premiered in Korea. On July 8th, ‘WHITE: Melody of Death’ opened at the CGV Cinemas in Los Angeles and now I bring you a review of this summer’s first Korean thriller to come to the States.

‘WHITE: Melody of Death’ is about a rookie girl group, Pink Dolls, that is struggling to find fame amidst the fierce competition in the idol music industry. Pink Dolls consists of 4 members: Eunjoo, Shinji,Arang, and Jenny. Pink Dolls’ leader Eunjoo (Eunjung) is a former backdancer and is the oldest member of the group. Shinji (Maydoni) is the group’s rapper and dancer who has been a trainee for 8 years. Maknae Arang (Choi Ara) is the “face” of the group and is obsessed with her appearance, to the point in which she gets plastic surgery during the group’s promotions. Lastly, Jenny (Jin Se Yeon) is the main vocalist of the group who is afraid to sing high.

When the girls move into their new studio, Eunjoo finds an old video of a never-before-seen music video of a song titled “White“. Upon hearing the song, their producer decides to remake this unknown song as the group’s next single. After a successful first performance of “White” at a showcase, their agency decides to prepare for full-fledged promotions starting by choosing one member to be the main member of the group. As the title of the movie and the movie posters suggest, as each member fights for the spotlight, the curse of the song comes upon them. Eunjoo and her friend Soonye (Hwang Woo Seul Hye) try to pinpoint the cause of the terror by unraveling the mystery behind the song.

Unfortunately, the movie itself didn’t really meet up to my expectations. I admit that many scenes caused chills to run down my spine and engraved horrific images into my mind, but as a thriller, this movie was much too predictable. The movie’s concept was interesting as it was an exaggerated portrayal of the Korean idol music industry. The characters were realistic and seemed to have been inspired by real life people in the idol world. The acting was quite convincing as well. Sadly, the movie as a whole did not impress.

On a side note, members of After School make cameo appearances as Pink Dolls’ rival group, Pure.2PM’s Junho also stars as a show MC. Both After School and Junho were able to portray their characters naturally since they took on roles similar to their own real-life identities.

Unless you are just looking for a mediocre thriller to give you a few chills to cool you down this summer, I suggest you sit this one out. ‘WHITE: Melody of Death’ is currently playing at the the CGV Cinemas in Los Angeles with English subtitles.
