Mnet Media presents their hit star reality shows at MIPCOM in Cannes, France and reveals their upcoming plans for expansion in other countries.
Recently, we wrote about Wonder Girls being a hit at MIPCOM as part of the Korea Creative Content Agency’s showcase, who also presented the MBC drama, DongYi, and the SBS animation, Scan2G, but it looks like that was not the only Korean content at this big event.
As representative of the music industry, Mnet presented their key content to the overseas press.
With Kpop taking over Asia they talked about their hit Wonder Girls’ reality shows, Made in Wonder Girls and Welcome to Wonderland, which show the preparation of the girls for their concerts and their lives during their tours, and fan favorite 2NE1 TV, featuring the private lives of CL, Minzy, Dara andBom as they get ready for their promotions.
But this was not all. Mnet representative, Lee Jeeyoung, also revealed their plans of expansion. They currently have presence in Japan with Mnet Japan and have just started their expansion to the U.S. There are also future plans for Mnet to have its own channels in Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore.
The representative also hinted at an upcoming music award show in Macau.
Each year Mnet celebrates one of the most important Korean music awards shows, formerly known as Mnet Km Music Festival, but changing its name to Mnet Asian Music Awards last year. Last year, the big event took place in November in Korea, which means an announcement about it should be coming out soon.
Is this the same award show the Mnet representative was talking about?
Nothing has been revealed on this matter yet, beside the comment of Lee Jeeyoung, but you can be sure we will update you with more information when the time comes.
It looks like Mnet has everything ready to expand their brand all over Asia, which could also mean more Kpop for overseas fans!
