Super Junior, trendiest hashtag for Korean Twitter users in 2012



Super Junior is a leading Hallyu group on and off the web.

For this past year 2012, popular group Super Junior dominated the trending hashtags. From the total of seven Korean #1 trending topics for the year, one spot was taken by Olympic gold-medalist, Park Tae Hwan after his disqualification in the London Olympics which left many Koreans bewildered.

However, the remaining six were all related to Super Junior. 

#기대릴게이특 (“We’ll wait, Lee Teuk”) was on the list when the group leader enlisted for his compulsory military service. Following behind on the list were topics like #슈퍼주니어2500일 (“Super Junior 2,500 Days”), #이동해생일축하해요 (“Lee Donghae, Happy Birthday”), #이특영원히사랑해요(“Lee Teuk, we love you forever”), #슈크라이6주년 (“Su-KRY 6 years”), #슈주은혁사랑합니다 (“SuJu Eunhyuk, we love you”), and #슈퍼주니어26000일 (“Super Junior 2,600 Days”).

This list doesn’t even include the English Super Junior-related hashtags that trended throughout the year.

Two of the most followed Korea tweeters on Twitter are also Super Junior members. Choi Siwon has 3 million followers and Donghae has a following of 2.6 million.

Yesung reveals how people didn’t recognize him on ‘Come to Play’


During the final December 24th broadcast of MBC‘s ‘Come to Play‘, Super Junior‘s Yesung featured as a guest and brought on laughter with embarrassing stories concerning his popularity.
Yesung opened up how people tend to not recognize him sharing, “One day, my name and photo were widely posted on a newspaper. With a joyful heart, I told my father. But the newspaper read, ‘Super Junior’s Chinese member Yesung who is performing in South Korea’”, revealing how journalists mistakenly confused his nationality. Yesung also talked about an embarrassing moment that occurred when his group moved into a new apartment and shared, “With a joyful heart, I rode the elevator up and down. A kid said to me, ‘You know what? I heard Super Junior lives here”, revealing his opinion on the level of his popularity.
Fellow guest Ji Sang Ryul also teased him by naming the members of Super Junior and asked Yesung, “But what is your name?”, lightening the atmosphere with his jokes.

Super Junior K.R.Y. releases short PV for “Promise You”



The Super Junior ballad unit, Super Junior K.R.Y, made up of members Kyuhyun, Ryeowook and Yesung, has just released a short PV for upcoming Japanese single, “Promise You”.

Mostly known for their lovely voices and touching performances, Super Junior K.R.Y will once again capture the hearts with their upcoming R&B track. The new album will also include the B-side track which is a cover of Hitoto Yo’s “Hanamizuki”.

‘Promise You’ single is due to be released on January 23 in Japan.

SHINee's "shining" performance excited 12,000 people at "Music For All, All For One"



5 member K-Pop boy group SHINee made their appearance in the music event, "MUSIC FOR ALL, ALL FOR ONE", that was held in Yoyogi National Gymnasium in Tokyo on the 23rd.


Composed of Onew, Jonghyun, Key, Minho, and Taemin, SHINee debuted in 2008 in Korea. In June of last year, they accomplished to debut in Japan. They were one of the key performers for this event and performed the pop dance track "Dazzling Girl" as their first song, gaining the biggest applause from the audience that day.


Through the echoes calling out for SHINee, they continued by singing their debut song, "Replay - You're My Everything-". During the talk segment, Taemin commented, "I'm really happy to meet everyone by being on such a big stage." With an innocent smile, Key added in fluent Japanese, "I'm really glad that we're standing on the same stage as other great artists. Hot, isn't it? Everyone in Yoyogi is the best! This is off topic, but the temperature in Seoul is as low as -10℃. When we arrived in Tokyo, only the 5 of us looked like Eskimos. It was embarrassing. I'm sorry, this is just a trivial topic."


"I'm grateful that through music, I get to go to various countries and meet everyone like this," Jonghyun commented. Onew shared, "We've been doing our activities from June last year and throughout this one and a half years, I've had a lot of wonderful memories. Yoyogi is a place that I won't forget." Minho said, "Because of everyone, I got to make another precious memory."


Following their synced performance of "Sherlock" was their new song, "1000 Years, Always be by My Side...", which was released on December 12th. As the high notes reverberated, the gymnasium transformed completely into SHINee's color as green lightsticks lit up, drawing in the fantastic mood.


SHINee reappeared on the stage again as the call for encore wouldn't stop and they showed an all out performance of "Lucifer". They closed their stage by greeting, "Merry Christmas! See you again!" in the end.


"MUSIC FOR ALL, ALL FOR ONE" is a live event that involves various impressive artists brought together by the sponsor, the big digital distribution site, "Recochoku" who also gains cooperation from all recording companies and music media. Last year, with the concept of "The unforgettable Christmas for the year that shouldn't be forgotten", artists that made their appearance delivered strong messages through "music", transferring the power to have the event continue on the following year.
