KARA’s “Girl’s Talk” goes platinum in Japan

KARA has become the first ever Korean girl group to sell 250,000 albums in Japan!

According to the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ), the girls’ first official Japanese album, “Girl’s Talk,” was certified platinum on January 14th. The album was released in November of last year, and recorded tremendous achievements within its first week of release, as it sold 100,000 copies. The album made KARA the first international female group to hit the mark after seven years, and they’ve ranked on the Oricon top 10 for a total of seven weeks.

“Girl’s Talk” is still selling well, and it’s expected that the girls will reach 300,000 in sales very soon. Their other singles, “Mister” and “Jumping“, have both reached ‘gold’ easily selling 100,000 units as well. Indeed, KARA’s “Mister” single reached platinum in digital sales with 250,000 downloads late last year.

SNSD’s Korean licensed album, “Hoot,” also hit 100,000 in sales, and was certified ‘gold’ this week.

2PM’s Nichkhun to become f(x)’s Victoria’s swim coach on “We Got Married”

2PM’s Nichkhun has tranformed into a swim coach for his wife, f(x)’s Victoria.

During the recording of MBC’s “We Got Married,” Nichkhun fulfilled his wish of wanting to teach Victoria how to swim. Victoria, who was always scared of water, got a hardcore personal swim lesson from Nichkhun in the swimming pool at a Thai Hotel.

Nichkhun, who learned intense survival swimming from his parents, showed off his teaching skills as he taught Victoria with an intensive 1-day swimming lesson.

However, as Nichkhun was coaching Victoria, a fatal flaw was found in Nichkhun. It has been revealed that this flaw was something that made him lose his honor as a teacher and husband. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until the show’s January 15th broadcast to find out what it is!

4Minute spotted at Pavillion!

4minute's Nam Jihyun continued her activities in Malaysia despite bad health conditions

4Minute, including other co-CUBE Entertainment artists such as BEAST and G.NA, had just finished a successful concert in Malaysia yesterday. However, behind the girls' energetic and fierce performance for the concert, was the unknown condition of 4Minute's Leader, Nam Jihyun, as she has been reportedly suffering from bad health conditions even before they went to Malaysia.

A staff from CUBE said that she started this New Year while gravely suffering from severe colds. It also seemed like her condition got worst the moment they went to Malaysia as her body had a hard time adjusting to the changing weather temperature as they transferred from South Korea to Malaysia. He also said that Jihyun is currently getting some treatments and is trying her best to feel better as soon as possible.

CUBE's representative also revealed that they already recommended Jihyun to take a break with her family to avoid further harm on her health; however, she still insisted on finishing all her responsibilities for she was also worried for the group's performance and enforced that she has to finish what the group has committed of doing.

Meanwhile, the girls of 4Minute are also in their preparations for their upcoming comeback.

Doojoon displayed his close friendship with 4minute

BEAST's Leader, Doojoon, had just show off his close relationship with our 4Minute girls as he uploaded a picture of him with the members of the group in his Twitter account. Though 4Minute's maknae, Kwon Sohyun, wasn't able to join the cute picture taking, fans are delighted to see how the girls of 4Minute pose cutely on the cam, showing a different side of their personality, as they were known for their charismatic and sexy image.

The picture was taken while they were waiting for their performance for CUBE's Artists' concert held yesterday night in Malaysia.

Moderation is key. Too much make-up is over-powering, rather than a natural look, for women. A prime example will be T-ara's Qri.

T-ara's single has an Indian girl concept and gained much attention recently. Facial features being overshadowed by too much make-up looks overdone, and the latest victim seems to be Qri.

Qri likes taking photos of herself and uploading it to her mini homepage. But it seems Qri has been using this type of heavy make-up each day. Usually stars use extreme amounts of make-up to look younger, but for Qri it's having an opposite effect and she doesn't even look her age anymore.

Last week we reported that f(x)’s Luna is set to make her musical debut in 2011. Luna joins Bada andKim Ji Woo to take on the character of Elle Woods for the musical, “Legally Blonde.”

Recently, promotional photos for the musical were released.

“Legally Blonde” is a musical that originated from Broadway back in 2007. It was adapted to a musical from the box office movie from 2001 of the same name starring Reese Witherspoon. Elle Woods is a beautiful and clever woman with bright blonde hair who follows her boyfriend to Harvard University and surprises everyone with her growing success.

f(x)’s Victoria voted the foreign singer who would look best in a Hanbok

f(x)’s Victoria was voted the foreign singer who would look best in a Hanbok (Traditional Korean Clothing).

Music portal Bugs conducted a survey from December 28th to January 11th on all the foreign artists who are active in the music industry with, ‘Who would look the best in a Hanbok?‘

2140 fans voted, and Victoria came first with 52% of the votes. 2PM’s Nichkhun, who is Victoria’s virtual husband on variety show ‘We Got Married‘ was runner up and received 24% of the votes.

f(x)’s Amber was third place with 10% of the votes, miss A’s Fei closely followed with 9% of the votes. 5th place went to miss A’s Jia, and 6th place was U-Kiss’s Alexander.

Many of today’s top celebrities either trained at JYP Entertainment (JYPE) or failed to pass JYPE’s auditions.

Last April, 3-high note vocalist IU’s audition video became a hot topic. In the video clip of IU’s 2008 JYPE audition, IU sang Bubble Sisters‘ “그렇게 사랑하고 그렇게 웃었습니다 / Loved Like That, Laughed Like That” but unfortunately failed to move on to the next round of the audition.

Recently, IU was able to work with producer Park Jin Young for their KBS2TV drama “Dream High” OST. IU expressed, “It was my first time recording an OST and I am proud to have been able to record with a CEO of a company that I auditioned for.”

Additionally, 20-year old KARA’s Goo Hara also has experience participating in JYPE’s auditions. In fact, she auditioned right after IU at the 2008 JYPE audition. It was revealed that after she suffered a defeat at the finals, she was chosen to be in her current agency, DSP Entertainment.

Recently, Goo Hara was awarded the “Show/Variety” runner-up award at the “2010 KBS Entertainment Awards” and has been busy doing Japanese promotions with KARA.

On the other hand, B2ST’s Lee Kikwang and Yoon Doojoon are known for having been JYP trainees. Recently, Park Jin Young visited KBS2TV’s “Win Win” and revealed why Kikwang didn’t debutunder JYPE. He said, “Ki Kwang was outstanding in both singing and dancing, and the reason why he didn’t debut was because he knew this fact himself.“ As for Doojoon, he was cut at the final elimination round on Mnet’s pre-debut documentary of the Oneday members called, “Hot Blood.” Both transfered into former JYPE representative Hong Seung Sung’s Cube Entertainment, where Kikwang first debuted solo as AJ and later debuted with Doojoon in B2ST.

Currently, B2ST has been preparing for their upcoming encore concert of their successful first concertfrom last December. Unfortunately, Kikwang’s audition clip has not been revealed, but since Doojoon auditioned at the same audition as IU and Goo Hara, his audition clip was made public prior to his debut.

Lastly, as a bonus for JYP Entertainment fans, here’s 2PM Wooyoung’s audition clip. Apparently, IU, Goo Hara, Doojoon, and Wooyoung all auditioned at the 2008 JYPE mgoon Audition. While the first three were eventually eliminated, Wooyoung came out on top in the final round of this audition.

Victoria ranked 31th. As the leader of f(x), the Chinese girl Victoria Song put the burden on herself to lead her group members who are 6 or 7 years younger than her. After she and 2pm handsome boy Nichkhun became a make-believe couple ‘khuntoria’ in WGM, all people think she is the best choice as a girlfriend.
