What are the real heights of 4minute’s HyunA and Sohyun?

I wish I was a little bit taller...

4minute’s HyunA and Sohyun recently confessed that their height measurements written on their online profiles exaggerate their actual height.

According to the producer of E Channel’s “4minute’s Mr. Teacher“, HyunA revealed, “Sohyun and I have a difference in height of 4 cm.”

HyunA’s height on her internet profile currently reads as 164 cm, while Sohyun’s profile says she is 162 cm, thus saying they have only a 2 cm difference. HyunA confessed, “Sohyun’s real height is actually 159 cm, while I am 162.8 cm.”

The two continued to explain, “We didn’t lie about our heights on purpose. We’re sorry that we weren’t truthful to our fans.”

I can’t imagine anybody thinks this is actually a big deal, right?

4minute praised by US Billboard & CNN, plans possible advancement into America?

Although Cube Entertainment has yet to release any information in regards to 4minute debuting outside Korea and Japan, it seems like there’s already some interest brewing from internationally-based sources.

After 4minute won the “K-Pop New Artist of the Year” award at the Billboard Japan Music Awards 2010 that took place earlier this week, the victory earned attention from CNN’s Asian online newspaperCNNGo as well as Billboard’s B2B website Billboard.biz.

The CNNGo article praised,

“Winners on the night, chosen by Billboard, included one of the leaders of the K-Pop boom, girl group 4Minute, who took home a Korea Billboard Special Award.

The five-piece showed exactly why South Korean acts are stealing a march on their Japanese counterparts with tightly choreographed performances of “First” and “Muzik,” with the hall’s speaker system booming.

Fans screamed out the names of the girls, who did their best to answer questions on stage in Japanese, and the five-piece delighted the press by hanging around for extra shots, before attending a luxury after-party at the Ritz Carlton hotel.”

Billboard.biz also included 4minute in their coverage, posting their Japanese FIRST music video, commenting on the girls’ fashion and choreography. A representative of 4minute revealed today, “On the day of the Billboard Awards, Bill Werde, the American Billboard’s editorial director, asked for an applause from the audience after 4minute’s performance, then said, ‘It’s a pity that a group like this is known only in Asia.’

Werde continued to praise the quintet on his personal Twitter (@bwerde), tweeting, “K-poppers 4 Minute play @ Billboard Japan awards. Some1 needs to explain why they aren’t stars in US. Catchy songs, great look, high energy … K-pop has really taken over the japanese market, and asia in gen.” Werde also promised to publish an article on Billboard.com soon to focus on the 4minute.

According to the eDaily report, 4minute has finished preparing for their debut in America. No other details or official reports have been released about such a debut, but stay tuned to allkpop as we continue to follow this matter.

T-ara’s Hyomin alarms netizens with recent diary entry

Despite making a formal apology to Big Bang’s Seungri for speaking informally to him on “King of Idols“, T-ara’s Hyomin is still being attacked by Seungri’s fans.

On the morning of February 8th, Hyomin left an ambiguous diary entry on her mini-homepage, “Should I… disappear?“, which alarmed netizens enough to appeal for an end to the situation. What’s even more horrifying is that her diary entry is still being attacked with hateful replies.

Worried netizens commented, “You can’t disappear!,” “Please don’t think such things!,” and “Do not pay attention to the hate!”

B2ST’s Yoseob tells 4minute’s Jihyun she’s prettier with makeup

Though arguably overshadowed at the time of 4minute’s debut as a musical group, leader Jihyun has been catching the widespread attention of fans and netizens for her acting debut and natural beauty. In fact, the latter subject became a hot topic on the Lunar New Year’s special onMBC’s Flower Bouquet, as Jihyun was complimented for her internet fame as the “natural beauty terminator.”

Amid the praises however, B2ST’s Yoseob boldly stated the opposite, telling Jihyun that she actually looked better with make-up. Before anyone gets up in arms about the insulting implications of his remarks, Yoseob was likely just bantering with his labelmate. However, as Jihyun became flustered and began to protest, HyunA defended her band member’s looks, confidently asserting that Jihyun was indeed a natural beauty.

Later in the recording, Jihyun also received a surprise phone call from her mother. During the call, the show MC asked, “Among the members of 4minute, what position would you rank your daughter in terms of looks?” Jihyun’s mother surprised the audience by replying, “She’s at second place,” explaining that she placed maknae Sohyun first. HyunA then retorted, “You didn’t look properly then.

Personally, I find Jihyun to be the most gorgeous member of 4minute with or without makeup. What do you think?

2PM’s Chansung & KARA’s Hara are not dating

2PM’s Chansung and KARA’s Goo Hara became the central focus of some dating rumors after netizens posted pictures of the two hanging out on set. Representatives of JYP Entertainmentclarified the matter by stating that it was a false call.

Representatives spoke with Star News on February 10th and explained, “The pictures that are circulating on the internet were taken during a recent Lunar New Year’s program, where singers were taken to Thailand for filming.”

They continued, “We called Chansung directly and he explained that the pictures were just of him and Hara working together for their segment on the program. The rumors regarding the two make no sense, especially based off of this image.”

Representatives of DSP Media stated, “Those are just pictures of the two taken together while filming on set. They’re close, but they are not dating.”

Gyuri answers questions about KARA at “Alpha and Omega” conference

On February 10th, KARA’s Park Gyuri attended the press conference for “Alpha and Omega“, and addressed the inevitable questions about her group’s controversy.

She began by stating, “No matter how difficult it became, I felt that I could withstand anything as long as I believed in myself and people continued to love and believe in me. I’m really apologetic towards the people who worried so much, and I’ll be repaying that by working harder to show an improved image.”

Gyuri continued, “I’m planning to promote extra hard as all five, and because our fans believe in us so much, I promise to not disappoint you. For now, I’m just so very sorry to the people who worried. So, so very sorry, and repaying that is my priority. We promise to become a KARA that works hard.”

Gyuri was asked when KARA would officially return to their Korean activities, to which she replied, “If the fans want it, we will return whenever.”

She also addressed the rumors of discord when a reporter brought it up. “Honestly, there are no problems between us members, so we do not pay attention to the discord rumors. All of us have good relationships.”

Moving on to her actual dubbing role for “Alpha and Omega,” Gyuri revealed, “I was once a child actress, so I acted first before I became a singer. I’ve always wanted to try acting if the opportunity should arise. Whether it’s a drama, or just dubbing, acting itself is so charming to me. Even as a singer, I go on stage thinking that I will be acting.”

“Alpha and Omega” will be released on February 24th.
