f(x)'s Amber expresses her thanks to Girls' Generation's Taeyeon

f(x)'s Amber expressed her thanks to Girls' Generation's Taeyeon on the February 24th airing of KBS Radio CoolFM's 'Jang Dong Min and Lady Jane's 2 O'Clock'.

As fans may know, Taeyeon featured in her SM Entertainment hoobae's solo debut track "Shake that Brass". Amber said on the show, "I thought a lot about who I should collaborate with. Suddenly, I thought of Taeyeon. She's a very good unni and sunbae. She took care of me and gave me a lot of advice."

Amber also discussed why she didn't work with her fellow f(x) members, "It would've been easy to collaborate with the f(x) members because I've been with them for 6 years. However, because it was a solo album, I wanted to challenge myself to something new."

In other news, the "Shake that Brass" MV hit a million views on the first day of its release. Have you seen it?

f(x)'s Amber bared her soul on the February 24 installment of Mnet's '4 Things Show,' elaborating on the troubles she went through during her childhood.

She said, "The way I see it, people view me as a rebel.  I'm not like an ordinary girl and I behave very briskly, so there is no choice but to misunderstand me."  While showing she could understand the misunderstandings about her boyish style, she went through difficult times because of the malicious rumors about her gender.

"They ask me, 'Why are you like this?' 'Why do you look like this?'" she continued. "When I was young, no matter where I would go--even Korea--people pestered me a lot, so I was often alone.  People avoided me a lot because of the way I looked; they judged, avoided, bothered, and cursed at me for no reason.  I was lonely, of course.  No one understood me, so I killed who I was: 'I did wrong.  I'm a bad person for looking like this.'"  If you don't have your tissues out already, you should grab them now.

Despite always having a bright and confident demeanor, Amber had such hardships to deal with.  She said, "I hid this problem from my family.  I was embarrassed at first.  How upset would my mother be if I told her, 'Mom, people bother me because I look like this,' when she's the parent who made me..

I wondered to myself what I was doing wrong.  The only thing different were my clothes.  I like sewing and coloring.  There are also lots of women who like sports.  It could be a misunderstanding only because I don't wear dresses, but they pressured me.  I heard a lot of words like, 'Because you're a girl, you must act like this,' 'Hey, why are you so weird?'"

As optimistic and sweet as ever, Amber said, "What I learned from watching people like that was to never judge somebody based on their appearance."

She brought up the lyrics she personally wrote for her solo track, "Beautiful," saying,"While writing this song, I thought, 'I really like myself, so why am I trying to hide myself?' It's selfish to say, but I said, 'From now on, I will do things my way.'  We cannot all look alike."  Well... with plastic surgery these days... but I digress.

Amber continued, "Each person has his or her own charm and it is beautiful to show this as is."  Such wise words!  She deserves a standing ovation at this point.

She concluded with thanks toward her good friends, "My friends love and support me the way that I am: 'Amber, it's okay.  Are you having a hard time?  Right now, just be you. That is fine.'  They are friends that act as my vertebrae.  Even if I were unable to stand myself up, my friends would stand me up."

Her close friend, miss A's Min, said, "Because Amber gives so much to the people around her, the people around here likewise want to be beside her and give her strength when Amber is having a hard time and is sick of everything."

Ailee added, "Now there are a lot of people who like Amber the way she is.  Because of the things that happened in the past, there is now the bright and loving Amber."

We can all agree that Amber is a beautiful person, right?
