Krystal reveals her "11 abs" story on 'Strong Heart'

f(x)’s Krystal was a guest on ‘Strong Heart‘ recently along with her other ‘Kiss & Cry‘ members. On this day, she revealed the secret behind her ‘11 abs‘.

On the July 26th broadcast of ‘Strong Heart’, she said,

“There was a time during ‘NU ABO‘ in which I was the only member who had a revealing outfit. I never worried about my abs before, so I was a little unsure about wearing revealing clothing. I was surprised when an article came up titled ‘11 abs’ with captured images from our performance.“

Krystal continued, “During my young trainee days, I went to jazz dance class and did a lot of sit ups so I have more muscle than fat.”

To dispel any feelings of envy, Krystal joked around and pointed to the enlarged screencap, saying, “I had eaten bread, so there was bread in my stomach.”

T-ara’s Hyomin reveals her handmade ‘Gisaeng Ryung’ party invitations

T-ara’s Hyomin has revealed her handmade invitations for the horror party honoring her movie, ‘Gisaeng Ryung‘ (‘Gisaeng Spirit’). Hyomin revealed, “I couldn’t directly send the invitations to my close celebrity friends, so I made a public invitation“.

On July 28th, gumihos, grim reapers, ghost girls, and various other ’spirits’ with horror makeup can all be found at the party. In addition, 20 lucky fans received a special invitation through portal site Daum. Hyomin directly wrote on her decorated invitation, “The team of the movie ‘Gisaeng Ryung’ and T-ara together are hosting this summer’s only Horror Party, so please come and eat to your fullest“.

The movie, ‘Gisaeng Ryung’, tells of a woman who dabbles with dark magic in her desperate wish for a child. She seals a child in a vat full of poison, but 99 days later, the child re-awakens and thus the story begins. The movie will be released on August 4th.

‘Immortal Song 2′ introduces new rules

With the addition of new contestants, new rules will also be applied to the upcoming episodes of KBS’s‘Immortal Song 2′.

The new contestants - Jay Park, Huh Gak, and Super Junior’s Kyuhyun- will be facing a different style of judging alongside the other contestants. The old setup had two singers compete against each other, with the audience voting on the more superior performance. The singer who gained the most votes would move onto the next round to face off against another contestant.

Instead of this method, the new modified rules will split the contestants into pairs; from these pairs, three winners will emerge and the audience must choose a grand winner from this ‘top 3′.

A show representative stated, “We have decided to follow this setup for the first round. The second round, where the contestants sing covers of legendary songs, will go on as usual. The first round will be used to let the idol singers freely use the stage to their individual satisfaction in order to show off their talent.”

The episode with modified rules will be broadcast on August 6th, with the teams consisting of: Jay Park/Moon Hee Jun, Kyuhyun/Son Ho Young, Huh Gak/Noise’s Hong Jong Koo, MBLAQ’sG.O/Kan Mi Yeon, SISTAR’s Hyorin/DJ D.O.C, 4minute’s Jiyoon/Koo Jun Yup (DJ KOO).

T-ara’s Hyomin talks about feeling confined by her idol image

T-ara’s Hyomin recently sat down for an honest interview with OSEN and revealed that she was experiencing a disconnect with her idol image.

The confession comes as a surprise, especially since she’s going through one of the busiest times of her career with a movie, a drama, and additional promotions with T-ara on the way.

Hyomin revealed, “Right when I began preparations for ‘Gisaeng Ryung‘, I experienced a disconnect. I realized that I was ‘acting like an idol’. I was always acting bright and positive, like what people would normally expect. I felt that I was being fake and began to wonder why I had to always be careful.”

She continued, “When I began KBS’s ‘Invincible Youth‘, I found myself speaking quietly and acting intimidated with my actions, even though I’m not a timid person. Because the public found it funny, I was acting the way they wanted me to, even though it wasn’t the true me. People who don’t know me began to see me as this person who wasn’t confident with themselves and only knew how to mumble. When they heard that I was cast for a historical drama, I heard things like, ‘She doesn’t even know how to speak for herself, how will she act in a historical drama?’”

It was through ‘Gisaeng Ryung’ that Hyomin decided to no longer limit herself to being an idol. She revealed that she had completely ‘thrown herself away’ to better fulfill her role in the movie, and that she wasn’t afraid to share her opinions in front of the directors.

With a laugh, she said, “It will be a new side of me. I don’t expect people to say that I act well, but rather, ‘She has this sort of expression too, she has this type of image too.’ I felt that way as well.”

4minute reveals new teaser for “Freestyle”

Online sports game “Freestyle” has announced that they’ll be starting a new in-game event with4minute characters!

Until August 17th, gamers who log in will receive a special 4minute character. Gamers who create their own 4minute character will also be rewarded with 50,000 additional points.

The creators of “Freestyle”, JCE, revealed, “Girl group characters are the bestselling items amongst ‘Freestyle’ gamers. We hope that this free distribution of 4minute characters will act as a refreshing breeze to the gamers tired out by the hot weather.”

4Minute New 30 sec Freestyle Teaser

Summer is here! After becoming official in game characters and spokeswomen for online sports game 'Freestyle', it was also announced that 4minute will release a promotion song for their endorsement as well. No official release date has been released for the full video nor song, but with the coming of the MV teaser the time must be near! Check it out!

Hyomin "After Jiyeon and Eunjung, I didn't want to miss the opportunity"

- Did the company propose the role in 'Gisaeng Ryung' to you alone, or was it also suggested to the other members.

▶ It was known to the T-ara members that there was a scenario like this. At first, the role wasn't very big. I thought it would be a character that I would be able to do without any burden.

- This may be an uncomfortable question but if Jiyeon and Eunjung didn't have any other schedules, would they have been able to appear in 'Gisaeng Ryung'.

▶ I think the opportunity came and I grabbed it. I wanted to continue acting. My major in college is even acting. (Sungkyunkwan University - Performing Arts) I wanted to do musicals even from way before and then I got the chance to debut as a singer and started activities as part of T-ara. Kim Kwangsoo CEO gives chances in order. It was just that Jiyeon and Eunjung were the first to be given them. That way there's less to worry about and less overlapping.

- Isn't it important to grab the opportunity when it comes.

▶ I've been in the position of waiting, and I've also been in the position where my turn came. I worked even harder thinking when will another opportunity come if I miss this chance. I don't consider it something that came to me easily. I also don't think it's an opportunity that necessarily came to me because they wanted me. I never want to think too highly of myself.

- This question was also asked to Nam Gyuri who switched over to another company and became a acting-dol. One day you'll have to decide which path you want to take whether it's acting and singing, being a broadcaster, or leaving the entertainment scene. What do you think is more important in regards to the future between acting and singing.

▶ I'm not exactly sure. Right now, T-ara comes before anything else.

- 'Gisaeng Ryung' has really tight schedules lately. We heard that you fainted a few days ago while having to juggle between T-ara's schedules and 'Gyebaek' schedules too.

▶ I expected it but once it came, it wasn't easy. I wanted to do good at this and I wanted to good at that but I was short on time and that was really disappointing for me. But still, I'm thankful to the director and staff members that cheered me on a lot at the filmset. Going "Hyomin jjang". That kind of support helped me a lot.

- Core Contents Media made a big hit with 'Death Bell' during the time when Korean horror movies were failing. 'Gisaeng Ryung' is another production. Naturally, there'll be comparisons.

▶ When I first received the script, I thought it was cliche. All of the members got together and monitored the scenario and gave their suggestions. It was the same case for 'Death Bell'. Suggestions were taken into consideration, because the director took those in, it became the version it is right now. It might have been easy to be misunderstood for arrogance but I think it was looked at as being passionate. 'Gisaeng Ryung' is a horror movie where you can see the characters change. Even if it's compared, I'm confident.

- Working hard and doing well are two different things.

▶ I want to be a character that's remembered. I know I have to work hard in order to receive that much interest. Rather than being concerned over success, I think it's more important to feel confident about acting out your part well. 'Gyebaek' is a drama with a lot to think about. At first I had the role of Gyebaek's wife but I'm not sure now. I think I have to go with a more gentle character.

- Eunjung's 'White: Curse of the Melody' was shown in theaters first. The comparisons will be unavoidable.

▶ I usually watch horror movies well. 'White' was a really well-made horror movie. If 'White' had that horror effect then 'Gisaeng Ryung' is a horror movie that target the audience with emotions.

4Minute and European Expansion

Recently, representative music agencies of South Korea have showed their interest in European expansion. Cube Entertainment (4minute, BEAST, etc) revealed that they had the opportunity for an expansion before, but unfortunately missed it.

The main character in Cube's European expansion is 4minute. They debuted in June 2009 with 'Hot Issue' and a follow-up song right after, called 'Muzik'. Cube explained that their Youtube videos had received so much love from Europe. 4minute fans said that 'Muzik' is their best song. It's an electronic dance song by Shinsadong Tiger and songs with the electronic genre are very popular in Europe. Because of the popularity, they received an offer of a 'Club Tour of 5 Main European Countries'.

A representative from Cube Entertainment showed their disappointment, "It was a club tour in England, France, Italy, Spain, etc. We couldn't do it back then." The reason that they had to give up on the tour is because one of their members is a minor that couldn't enter the club. They revealed, "We unfortunately gave up on the club tour because one of the members (Kwon Sohyun, 1994) is a minor that can't enter the club."

Cube Entertainment could achieve the opportunity again this year. 4minute member Hyunah's solo song 'Bubble Pop' has been chosen as 'Song of the Day' on 'popjustice.com', an UK professional pop site. And BEAST's hit song 'Fiction' has reached no. 63 on a Germany music site. They also received an opportunity to hold a 'Cube Family Concert' on 19th November in London (4minute, BEAST, G.NA, etc) and become a hot news in Europe.

Bada and Kara's Park Gyuri is double-casted for musical Pounds Beauty

Pounds Beauty, one of the most anticipated musicals this year, double- casted Bada and Kara’s Park Gyuri as its lead actors. Bada, well known as a great singer, has proved herself by winning several prizes for musical actresses; Park, one of the members of Kara, has developed her acting career from a young age.

Pounds Beauty, based on the script of the hit movie of the same title, features a fat, ugly woman with an amazing singing ability. Her unattractive appearance has made her live as a stand-in singer, but one day she’s determined to transform her look by taking a plastic surgery for her entire body.

This musical is planning to set on an Asia tour, starting a performance in Osakain October before opening it in Seoulin November and then in Chinaand Singaporenext year.
