KARA, who lived up to its status as the representative hallyu girl group, made huge melodious waves in Japan this year and added another feat to its list.
On December 28th, Japan's Oricon chart revealed that KARA's DVD "KARA Vacation 2", which was released on December 21st, sold 70,000 copies in the initial week of its release and set the record of the highest sales in the first week among DVDs released this year.
An official stated, "KARA pulled off the highest results among idol groups who released DVDs. The sales amount is much higher than the sales of popular idol group AKB48’s DVD, which sold 40,000 copies during its first week of sales in July."
"KARA Vacation 2" is the second part of the "KARA Vacation" series which includes images and cuts of the members during their visit in Phuket, Thailand.
The group, who is enjoying an amazing popularity in Japan, has been working intensely with a full-packed schedule as they have been invited to almost all the major year-end events in the country. KARA will be attending various awards ceremonies including, "Best Hit Gayo Festival", Fuji TV’s "FNS Gayo Festival", Asahi TV’s "Music Station Super Live 2011" and NHK’s "Red and White Song Battle".
