Onew wins first place in the Candypang Battle contest, claiming a prize of 10 million won

Onew has been righteously crowned as the victor of WeMade Entertainment's Candypang Battle contest! As many have noticed, Onew has been religiously devoted to the battle, tweeting screenshots of his scores every so often throughout the past month.

The contest was opened to all celebrities and a variety of stars participated in the contest which took place from December 5th to December 27th. It not only attracted celebrity participants but also involved fans who could support the ideals by leaving comments through SNS. The official winners of this contest have been announced today on the 28th.

Onew's monetary winnings from his triumphant victory amounts to 10 million won ($9338~ USD), accompanied by the special prize of a 10,000 Candypang hearts coupon! Second place went to 1kyne of Electro Boyz, and third place went to gagman Moon Kyubak.

Taemin and Kim Won Jun to collaborate for the ’2012 SBS Gayo Daejun’

SHINee‘s Taemin and Kim Won Jun will be holding a collaboration stage for the ‘2012 SBS Gayo Daejun‘.

The theme of the ‘SBS Gayo Daejun’ this year is ‘The Color of K-Pop’, and the producers of the show have worked hard to incorporate the various colors of each idol group into collaboration stages. KARA‘sHara will be performing with Kim Wan Sun, and 2NE1‘s CL will be performing with Sung Si Kyung.

Kim Won Jun also revealed that he would be working with Taemin through his Twitter account. He shared the above photo and also wrote,

Baek Ji Young reveals another album jacket for “I Hate It”

Set to make a return early next year, singer Baek Ji Young revealed another album jacket photo for her upcoming ballad track, “I Hate It”.

The new photo uses the same image as the first jacket photo, further enhanced to give off a cool, melancholic vibe. The jacket’s concept reflects Baek Ji Young’s album musically as she seeks to present the singer’s feelings and expressions as they are in a truthful manner. 

Baek Jiyoung collaborated with composer 2FACE for “I Hate It”, marking their first project together. The emotional ballad track is also a collaboration with famed pianist Yiruma.

Baek Jiyoung collaborated with pianist Yiruma and composer 2FACE for the track. Many music fans are already showing explosive reactions for the upcoming heartfelt ballad, written by one of the greatest pianist and one of the greatest songwriters of Korea.

Leeteuk, Ji Hyun Woo, and Yunhak’s army musical ‘The Promise’ holds public practice session

‘The Promise‘, the army musical featuring Super Junior‘s Leeteuk, actor Ji Hyun Woo, and ChoShinSung‘s Yunhak recently held a public practice session.

Many reporters were in attendance for the practice session to see the famous celebrities practice the musical. Even though the public session only showed the 2nd act, the actors displayed their passion and hard work by putting their all into the acting. 

At the end of the practice, Ji Hyun Woo said, “It is a musical that commemorates June 25, 1950 (The Day the Korean War began). You will be very touched by it“. Actor Kim Moo Yeol added, “I am nervous because it is a performance during my enlistment. I will do my best.” Yunhak said, “It’s a subject on war that international fans will have a hard time understanding, but we will make a stage that will touch even the international fans.” Leeteuk said, “I will do my best so people will say, ‘Of course, that is Super Junior’s Leeteuk’.”

Netizen claiming to be T-ara’s backdancer detained for defamation of character

The netizen who claimed to be T-ara‘s former backdancer earlier this year and fanned the flames of alleged bullying within the group has been detained at Gangnam police station.

The Gangnam police station’s cyber crime team announced that “netizen A”, who allegedly wrote that Jiyeon slapped Hwayoung for a small mistake during practice, is being accused for defamation of character. However, netizen A is claiming that he simply spread the rumor, and that he was not the writer of the original post.

A representative from the police station stated, “After [rumors of] Hwayoung being bullied came out, the news spread instantly, and because the original post was deleted, it took a long time [to investigate]. We were unable to find the originator of the post. Because it’s still an ongoing investigation, we can’t reveal any more details.”

The cyber crime team explained, “Whether the statements by the person who misrepresented himself as T-ara’s backdancer are fact or fiction, because the statements could have had made [the group's] image suffer, it’s possible that maliciously spreading the post could be considered defamation of character.”

TVXQ, Super Junior and ZE:A to hold joint concert on Valentine’s Day

Idol groups TVXQ, Super Junior K.R.Y and ZE:A will be celebrating Valentine’s Day with their fans.

TVXQ, Super Junior K.R.Y and ZE:A are to share the stage at the ‘K-Pop Concert with Poseidon’ which will take place at the KINTEX Hall in Ilsan, Gyeonggi-do on February 14th. The ‘K-Pop Concert with Poseidon’ will show off explosive live stages from the three groups, who performed the OSTs for the KBS 2TV drama ‘Poseidon’ which had ended in November last year.

Not only that, Super Junior’s Choi Siwon, TVXQ’s U-Know Yunho and ZE:A’s Moon Jun Young, who all starred in ‘Poseidon’, are set to hold a fanmeeting and share their behind-the-scene episodes regarding the drama .

Tickets to the K-pop concert are slated to become available online from December 28.

TVXQ, f(x) and Zhang Li Yin take private jet to China for New Year Concert

SM Entertainment artists including TVXQ, f(x), Zhang Li Yin flew to Sichuan, China in a private jet to participate at the Sichuan Satellite 2013 New Year Concert.

According to SM Entertainment on December 27, the three teams received the VIP treatment by the hosts of the event, as on the morning of December 22 Sichuan TV sent a special private jet to carry them into China.

On the evening of concert, TVXQ showed performances of “Catch Me”, H“umanoids”, and “Why”. Also f(x) showed “Electric Shock”, “Pinocchio”, and “NU ABO”. Zhang Li Yin” sung two songs of hers. 8000 crowds loved the concert and they sung with the artists even though most of the songs were in Korean.
