Jiyeon visits home after 4 years away

Much to her delight, T-ara’s Jiyeon was given time off to spend a day with her parents at home recently, her first visit in more than four years.

Living in shared accommodations and keeping a jam-packed schedule means such outings are rare for T-ara.

“Finally my dream has come true,” the 19-year-old said on Twitter Thursday. “I’m back home with my parents again after four years apart. Today I’m going to ask my mom to cook me some spicy rice cakes.”

Her father also surprised the star at an autograph signing event recently, prompting Jiyeon to shed tears.

Fans that encountered the tweet were quick to congratulate her by saying, “I hope you have a great time with your family,” “enjoy the rice cakes” and so on.

But it’s already back to the grind, and an official fan meet is scheduled for today. The event gained a lot of press coverage a few weeks ago when the group decided to waive admission fees for the event.

Just two weeks to go, T-ara offered refunds of 10,000 won ($9) per seat because it didn’t want to “burden the fans.”

Hyomin and INFINITE’s Woohyun went grocery shopping together?

T-ara‘s Hyomin has left fans puzzled with her latest tweet.
On July 14th, Hyomin uploaded two shots of herself and INFINITE‘s Woohyun with the message, “Got caught red handed on my way back from grocery shopping with INFINITE’s Woohyun… haha.”
Sure enough, the two seem to be on their way back from a trip to the market with two bags full of groceries, which Woohyun seems to have offered to carry like a gentleman.
Although Hyomin is known to have worked with Woohyun’s brother, Boohyun, on the show ‘T-ara’s Flower Boys‘, she and Woohyun had not spent time together on the show, sparking much interest from fans of both singers.
Fans have been asking questions as well as speculating with comments like, “What are they doing together?” “Are they working on a drama together?” “They look good together”, and “I almost misunderstood the situation at first, but it seems like they’re in the middle of filming.”

Jiyeon’s childhood dream was to become a Tae Kwon Do professional

Member Jiyeon of girl group T-ara shared a dream she had when she was young.
On the July 13th broadcast of KBS 2TV‘s ‘Star Life Theater‘, Jiyeon reminisced of her younger years as she said, “I liked Tae Kwon Do so much; my dream was to become a Tae Kwon Do professional.
When asked how she became an artist, Jiyeon answered, “When I was young and I didn’t know any better, I was watching a drama on TV and thought I wanted to do that too. I started going to acting classes and started auditioning by myself, and I ended up meeting the company I’m with now. I debuted as an artist, and I got my opportunity to act as well. I think I was extremely lucky.”
The episode also revealed footage of the girls’ first Japanese concert. Remarking that studying Japanese was a difficult task, Jiyeon evoked laughter as she said, “My Japanese level is that of a 4 year old child.”

Super Junior’s ‘Sexy, Free & Single’ places 3rd on Billboard World Album Chart

Super Junior‘s 6th album, ‘Sexy, Free & Single‘ recently placed 1st on Gaon‘s National Physical Albums Chart and now the album has placed 3rd on the Billboard World Album Chart.
The album also placed 37th on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums Chart.
Congratulations to Super Junior!

T-ara ‘Day by Day’

With infectious hits like Bo Peep Bo Peep,Lovey-Dovey, and Roly PolyT-ara has gained a reputation for releasing the kind of addictive pop confections that are impossible to get out of your head, but they’re unfairly overlooked as a group capable of making impressive albums.
Their 2009 full-length debut, Absolute First Album, is still one of the best girl group albums to come out of the pop world in years, while 2010′s Temptastic (and its two unofficial repackages) remains totally underrated. Even last year’s Black Eyes was a good effort in all of its odd, cheap-ish glory.
For their most recent comeback, T-ara was gracious enough not to pull Temptastic and drop another repackaged album, instead returning with an all-new original EP, Day by Day.
The album’s lead single and title track, Day by Day, is by far the album’s finest moment. More “Cry Cry” than “Lovey-Dovey”, the song sees T-ara going against the current trend of releasing upbeat songs to tie-in with the Korean summer season, instead opting to go down a much darker route with a song that sounds more suited to a chilly winter than the warm summer months.
Produced by Cho Young-soo (“Lies”, “Cry Cry”), the poetic “Day by Day” stands as T-ara’s most organic-sounding single to date, as well as their most hip-hop-leaning since “TTL (Time to Love). With extensive rapping from the long-underrated Hwayoung and production built around warm acoustics, percussion, and an enchanting flute riff, “Day by Day” plays like an obvious attempt to cash-in on the enormous success of K-indie acts like Busker Busker and LeeSsang, while still maintaining enough K-Pop flavor to appeal to the group’s usual demographic.

There’s been a lot of controversy surrounding the flute usage in “Day by Day”, with people calling it a knock-off of Britney Spears’ “Criminal”. This certainly wouldn’t be the first time that T-ara were ‘inspired’ by Britney, but the flute in “Day by Day” sounds closer to a sped-up version of the flute intro from the Led Zeppelin classic “Stairway to Heaven” than it does to Britney’s hit, which is probably where the Pop Princess originally got the idea from, anyway. Still, the two songs do have a lot of similarities, but since they’re both so good in their own right, it doesn’t feel like it should be viewed as a negative thing.
The next track, “Holiday”, is a melancholy pop jam with depressing lyrics and a boppy beat, giving it a similar vibe to the group’s debut single, “Lies”. The girls sing about being sad and alone on the holidays, trying to rhyme, “holi, holi, day” with “lonely, lonely, day” on the chorus, which would probably sound ridiculous coming from anyone else but T-ara.
One of the few consistent aspects of the ever-evolving T-ara is that they never do those typical K-Pop ballads that are so often used as filler tracks on a lot of idol albums. The group almost comes close to that style on the powerful  “Don’t Leave”, but producer Cho Young-soo keeps the composition mature and unpredictable enough to stop it from sounding syrupy or generic, opening with a synthy, electronic intro, before dropping into a dark hip-hop beat backed by a dramatic orchestra. Hwayoung, Eunjung, and new member Areum provide rapping throughout various points in the song, while the talentedSoyeon delivers some of her strongest vocals to date.
The final two songs on the album, “HUE” and “Love Game”, both appeared on T-ara’s recent Japanese album under the titles of “T-ARATiC MAGiC MUSiC” and “Keep Out”.
“Love Game” combines sixties girl rock with dubstep wobbles and synths, making it a nice fit for the album, but “HUE” sticks out like a sore thumb with its cheap techno-pop production. Despite a repetitive “whoa oh oh oh” moment on the post-chorus that gets lodged in your brain, it probably should’ve just been left on Jewelry Box.
Speaking of unneeded things on Day by Day: um, Areum? Now that CCM has finally decided to actually utilize Hwayoung by having her rap on all three of Day by Day‘s new tracks, T-ara feels more complete than ever before, making Areum seem like an unnecessary addition to the group. She may be able to sing slightly better than the non-Soyeon members of T-ara, but she isn’t really doing anything that Eunjung can’t handle. I mean, it’s not like being a better singer than JiyeonQri, and Boram makes Areum the next Hyorin or IU. Right?
“Day by Day” easily ranks up there as one T-ara’s best singles, but the album itself isn’t quite as strong as we’ve heard from the group in the past. It definitely doesn’t come close to Absolute First Album,TemptasticJohn Travolta Wannabe, or Funky Town, but it sits comfortably on the level of Black Eyes, and serves as another solid effort in T-ara’s sometimes stellar discography.

Amber stunning in long hairdo

Many fans usually know f(x)‘s Amber for her distinctive look. However, her recent selcas proved that the idol looks just as stunning with a long hairdo!
The idol tweeted the picture on July 12th, adding: “thanks for the make over u guy….” The message was later found to be directed at miss A’s FeiMin, and Jia who are known to be some of Amber’s closest friends.
Amber is smiling playfully with a side-braid hair piece placed neatly on her left shoulder, giving off a cute and girly feel as compared to her tomboy image.
This is the first time I’ve ever seen you with long hair, you should definitely grow it out!” comments one fan, “You look so pretty, you can definitely pull it off Amber.
Meanwhile, f(x) will be concluding their promotions for Electric Shock this week to ready their Japanese debut, expected to take place during the second half of the year.
