f(x) states “Our differences are finally working out''

Female artist group f(x) has come back to the scene after 1 year since releasing their first regular album “Pinocchio”. Their title song “Pinocchio” is receiving attention since they took 1st place in various music charts immediately after their album was introduced on the 18th. A lot of light is being shed on their new performance this upcoming 22nd on KBS “Music Bank”.

Upon a recent meeting, its members have found it hard to believe the good news of making 1st place and shared a good laugh amongst themselves. They showed courage for the upcoming event by saying they believed they would fall more in love with the song after the performance.

Luna stated “The stage for idols is normally “We focused more on the timing. We wanted to show you the detailed expressions at once. We wanted to add some helpful hinters so the unique lyrics would be understood better, while at the same time giving it a more natural feeling than the standard style”.

“Pinocchio” is a symbolic song about the process of getting to know a male crush. “Lachata”, “NU Yeppio”, and “Chu” have the standard format of hit songs with the usual unique lyrics and lively music styles.
The public’s response is what has changed. If it took playing the song several times for a song to become popular in the past, nowadays true popularity is defined when fans gossip in anticipation before the album is even introduced to the market.

Sulli stated “I think the unique differences of f(x) have become more clear and colorful. Even as I read commentaries, I have observed that there are many fans who like f(x)’s style. It feels good to know that we now have fans are accepting f(x)’s unique style and awaiting our success.”

f(x) defined themselves as “a group that attracts attention”. They want to keep the public guessing as to “what kind of kids they really are”.

Luna stated “We want to be a group that is free of being stereotyped. We want to be hard to guess, difficult to accept in one feeling”.

The group has stated that the past year, they have missed the stage due to being occupied with musical performances.

Krystal stated “Towards the end of last year, we stood on stage because of the awards, and we felt nervous (laugh), so that is why we look forward to the stage this time at our come back.

Victoria and Amber are diligently trying to get used to Korea. Victoria expressed her excitement of being acknowledge by middle-aged housewives in the supermarket due to her appearance in MBC’s “We Got Married” with Nichkhun where plays the role of his wife. Amber stated she had forgotten a lot of the Korean language while she was in the United States for 6 months and that she is studying to make up for this fact.

Victoria stated “It is easier for me to write than to speak. It is fine when I have time to process in my brain and write, but right now it is still hard to speak fast”.

Amber stated “Korean is very hard. I want to study hard and be a VJ. I’m also going to continue pursuing music. I wish f(x)’s music was listened to often. You will never get tired of our songs because every debut album contains different genres”.

f(x) makes their comeback on Music Core

After a long absence, f(x) is finally back with their brand new first studio album, “Pinocchio” and starting promotions once again on tonight’s MBC’s Music Core.

Their electronic pop dance track features a powerful yet restricted beat with a unique guitar sound that brings out the diversity in f(x)’s voices. Their lyrics also add an interesting element to the performance in that it compares the process of getting to know their crush to the process of constructing their own Pinocchio doll. Check out their comeback stage below!

Are girl groups buying back their albums?

The flood of girl groups this year might actually be doing some damage to the music industry (besides saturating the idol market). Netizens are raising suspicions over manipulated album sales statistics from three girl groups, and consequently, Hanteo – an album sales anaylst site – has become the center of hot attention.

Apparently, netizens spotted sudden spikes in album sales from the Brave Girls, Rainbow, and4minute, which caused some concerned discussions on various community boards as to whether companies were actually buying back their albums to create an ‘all-kill’ effect. Because the Korean music market isn’t as strong as it could be, it only takes a few thousand sales to achieve that much-coveted ‘all-kill’ title.

In effect, all it would take for an agency to bump their rookies to the next level is to spend a little extra money to help push false reports about ‘all-kill’ titles, and hopefully grab a music program trophy in the process.

But where did it all begin?

It all started with Brave Girls suddenly dominating charts overnight with over 4,000 in album sales. It’s a feat that they cleared barely a week into their debut, while senior girl groups with established fanbases like SISTAR and SECRET took much longer to achieve those same numbers.

Netizens have been watching as Rainbow followed with a sudden spike in sales. Soon after, 4minute recorded nearly 5,000 sales in just under two days to keep up with the others on the charts.

On Hanteo, a netizen wrote, “Because Brave Girls is buying back their own albums, Rainbow is now forced to keep up and have bought back their own albums in the second week of their promotions. 4minute is also competing for that #1 title so of course, they are starting to buy it back as well. Even if artists win #1 on charts, we need to keep it quiet to prevent this.”

Another netizen wrote, “What exactly are they going to do with all of the albums they bought back? Despite it being such a blatant case of buying back their own albums, they’re claiming it’s not. Now people are accusing f(x) of buying back because they’re the next girl group comeback.”

An anonymous industry representative said, “These days, album sales are an indication of a fandom’s strength. To rookies that have yet to establish a name or fanbase for themselves, it’s only natural that accusations of buying back albums will follow when they suddenly dominate album charts. It’s reality.”

f(x) and TVXQ snap a family shot from backstage of ‘Music Bank’

f(x)’s leader Victoria shared an SM Entertainment family photo of her groupmates with TVXQ from the backstage of “Music Bank“.

On April 22nd, f(x) had their first comeback stage on “Music Bank”. Victoria uploaded the above photo onto her me2day and wrote, “First stage on Music Bank. I was so nervous, but because you all encouraged us, we were able to finish well safely. It’s bittersweet because it’s TVXQ’s last broadcast, but because you are encourageing us, we will become a more hard-working f(x).”

Netizens commented, “My eyes are so happy to see good-looking men and women together” and “Now that they have received the baton from TVXQ, I am looking forward to f(x)’s activities this time around.”

f(x)’s Sulli is obsessed with Park Myung Soo

f(x)’s Sulli guested on this week’s episode of KBS’s “100 Points out of 100” and proved herself to be a hardcore fan of gagman Park Myung Soo.

Despite being surrounded by a slew of other castmates, Sulli only burst into laughter over remarks made by the gagman throughout the show. The cast eventually caught on, leading someone to reveal,“Sulli has always been a fan of Park Myung Soo’s. She likes him to the point of obsession.”

Energized by the boost in ego, Park Myung Soo began overreacting with his adlibs for his new young fan, leading Sulli to not only guffaw with laughter, but actually tear up because she was laughing so hard.

Despite Sulli being completely enamored with the gagman, MBLAQ’s Lee Joon took the opportunity to express his affections for f(x). Blushing until his ears grew visibly red, he shyly stated, “I’ve always loved all of f(x)’s songs.”
