Female idols bring out past academic achievements for “brain” competition

During a recent recording of KBS 2TV’s Lunar New Year special, “Idol Brain Collision,” various idol group members battled it out to gain the title of the “#1 Mother’s Friend’s Daughter” (i.e, the girl you never want to be compared to).

Part of the battle was for each of the group’s representatives to reveal their past colorful academic histories. Brown Eyed Girls’ Miryo surprised the set as she revealed that she was part of the “gifted students” class back in elementary school, which was only for those who got straight A’s.

Meanwhile, T-ara’s Hyomin directly came on set holding a variety of awards she received as a student, while Rainbow’s Jaekyung and SECRET’s Ji Eun revealed that they were the school chairman and leaders throughout middle school and elementary school, respectively.

Additionally, miss A’s Min stated that she received special education for the gifted during her stay in America. SISTAR’s Bora received the “Campus Queen” title at Myungji University, while Girl’s Day’sMinah won first place in a “Poster Contest” in Incheon.

The full episode is set to air this coming February 3rd.

4minute asks fans to look forward to their comeback

On February 2nd, the ladies of 4minute raised everyone’s anticipation for their comeback by revealing that they were recording for their next album!

Jihyun stated, “As it’s the year of the rabbit, we’ll be showing new sides to 4minute and will be greeting you all soon, so please look forward to us. We’re busily recording right now, and hope to quickly show it to everyone.”

4minute continued, “Please consider 4minute as your luck for the 2011 New Year and wait for us. When our album finally comes out, we’ll work to fill you with happiness and joy through our songs. Prepare yourself to become happy!”

Gayoon stated, “I want to visit my grandmother’s over the holiday. She lives in the country, so I want to enjoy country food and just spend a nice quiet time with our members. I hope to eat the delicious meals cooked by Jihyun unni and rice cake soup made by Hyuna.”

Jiyoon added, “Spending time with our families will be a priority. I want to meet up with my friends and spend time chatting and enjoying the smaller joys in life.”

Hyuna revealed, “I’d like to be able to spend time with my family, eat delicious things with the members, and play traditional Korean games.”

Sohyun expressed that she’d like to meet her parents over the break and added, “Please watch out for the variety programs we’ll be appearing on!”

Jihyun concluded, “Last Lunar New Year, we were promoting in Thailand, but this year, we hope to be able to spend it with our family and relatives. My grandparents are both getting old, so I am worried about their health and want to be near them. I hope to spend a quiet and simple, but also the happiest, break with my family.”

Hyuna concluded, “We appeared in special Lunar New Year programs, and even gave our try at a marathon. It was our first time, so I thought all I had to do was run, but it wasn’t as easy as I thought. We began the New Year with a cold, but I’d like to consider it a way of driving away the evil in order for everyone to spend a healthy and Happy New Year.”

f(x) to spend their Lunar New Year’s with family

f(x) will be taking a short break from their comeback preparations to spend time with their families for the Lunar New Year’s holiday.

Representatives of SM Entertainment revealed, “Excluding Victoria, who has a broadcast schedule, the rest of the members will be spending the holiday with their families.”

Krystal and Amber, who are both from overseas, will be visiting their relatives in Korea, while Victoria will be spending it with Nichkhun for MBC’s “We Got Married“.

Luna has given up her break in order to prepare for her musical debut with “Legally Blonde” on February 4th, but will be heading home right after her debut performance.

What are the foreign idols doing over the Lunar New Year?

The Lunar New Year holiday is almost here, and idols are slowly wrapping up their activities to return home for a brief break with their families. Unfortunately for most of the foreign members, they don’t have family members close by for a quick visit home.

2PM’s Nichkhun will enjoy a schedule-free Lunar New Year’s. A representative of JYP Entertainment revealed, “He’ll be enjoying the only day out of his year where he doesn’t have a schedule. Although Wooyoung and Taecyeon will be filming for “Dream High” during the break, they’ll be staying home, so Nichkhun will have the entire dorm to himself.”

Unfortunately, Nichkhun may not be able to call up his fellow foreign idol and virtual wife, f(x)’sVictoria, as she has one broadcast scheduled for February 3rd. And what about Amber, f(x)’s other ‘foreign idol’? SM Entertainment revealed, “She’ll be spending it with the SM staff members, as well as taking personal time off and rehearsing on her own.”

miss A’s two Chinese members, Fei and Jia, will be heading back to China. A JYPE representative revealed, “The holiday is an important one to the Chinese, and miss A is currently in-between their official schedules, so they’ll be able to take time off and visit their homes.”

HAM’s Chinese member, Gayeon, will be celebrating in Korea with her mother. Due to the group’s impending February comeback, representatives from her agency revealed that she doesn’t have the time to fly back home.

U-KISS‘ Alexander also won’t be able to head back to Hong Kong for the holiday. A representative stated, “He’ll be spending the holiday with his aunt in Korea.”

Although it looks like the majority of the idols won’t be able to spend time with their families, we’re sure that they’ll still enjoy the brief respite from their hectic schedules.

Sori, SECRET’s Zinger, & f(x)’s Victoria celebrate their birthdays together

Sori, f(x)’s Victoria, and SECRET’s Zinger will be celebrating their birthdays together over the Lunar New Year holiday on February 2nd!

Although they’re all turning a different age, the girls developed a friendship by appearing on numerous variety programs together, such as KBS’s “Invincible Youth” and MBC’s “Bouquet“.

Through her Twitter, Sori thanked fans for their birthday wishes by writing, “I was so touched. Thank you for congratulating my birthday. I think I’ll be able to sleep now, I’m so, so happy.” In a separate message to Zinger, she wrote, “Happy birthday, Zinger. I hope only good things happen to you.”

Other stars such as Gu Ji Sung, who knew them through “Bouquet,” congratulated their birthdays as well, followed by Jewelry’s Eunjung.

Fans from all three stars have also come together to leave birthday messages on each other’s fancafes.

Hyomin, Jaekyung, Miryo etc... girl group best brain battle

On the coming 3rd on KBS 2TV 'New year special! Idol Brain Competition' the South Korean 9 girl groups(T-ara, BEG, Miss A, Sistar, Secret, f(x), rainbow, Girls Day, Dal Shabet) best brains will come out and will open a quiz show to win scholarship.

The people who were representing one of the 9 groups, their primary school grades were really good, especially BEG's Miryo who was attacking people and T-ARA's Hyomin as well.

Also with Rainbow's Jaekyung who was the Primary School representative and high school chairman, Secret's Jieun who was the class representative from grade 1 to 6, Miss A who got a gifted education from America, Girls Day Minah who won the Incheon Poster Competition and there were many more who created a fight.

They represented their group and they worked really hard to get the scholarship with their greta brains.

Amber is set to continue official activities for f(x)'s upcoming album!

f(x)'s rapper, Amber is finally back and joins the other 4 members for their upcoming album.

A broadcast representative tweeted a fan about Amber's comeback via his Twitter saying, "Remember you asked about Amber last time? Well, she's back and is working hard for their album which is scheduled to release early this February. She'll be able to continue her official activities by next month!"

Amber had to halt from f(x)'s regular activities and been away in the US for awhile because of her serious ankle injury, which resulted to a possibility of her resigning from the group. Few days ago, she was spotted attending SHINee's first concert (SHINee World The 1st Concert) which then the rumors were finally withdrawn.

Victoria mentioned on Sukira that Amber's been working hard on their upcoming album as well.

A representative from SM already mentioned about Amber's condition, saying her condition improved and is set to start official activities with the group starting next month.

4Minute's 3 Hyuns and MBLAQ's Lee Joon showed their support towards Gayoon

MBC's Lunar Year Special 'Idol Swimming + Championships in Athletics' continues to garner more attention as curiosity arises from Netizens when 4Minute's maknae, Kwon Sohyun, uploaded a picture of her with her 2 unnies, Nam JiHyun and Kim HyunA, holding different fanboards as they cheer Gayoon who has just been confirmed to be their representative for the swimming competition.

What made things more interesting is when Sohyun followed it with another picture. She revealed a photo ofMBLAQ's Lee Joon wearing a tracksuit with striped sandals, while sitting on the floor holding the same fanboard that Jihyun held on the first picture she had uploaded. The board says: "I love you Heo Kkaka!"

HyunA's unmatched eyes garnered attention

4Minute's Kim HyunA once again proved herself to be the Queen of selca as her new set of her uploaded selcas from Twitter became another Hot Issue to Netizens.

Last January 31, HyunA uploaded a number of pictures of herself with the caption: “Eye eye eye. Nose nose nose. Lip lip lip!” as she points to her eyes, lips and nose.

Noticing how her one eye seems smaller than the other one, she uploaded another set of pictures and said:"My eyes are becoming unmatched *cries*"
