2PM's first concert in Thailand attracts 9,000 audience members


The idol group 2PM successfully finished their Asian concert tour entitled "Hands Up" in Thailand, their agency JYP Entertainment said on February 20. According to JYP, 2PM held their first solo concert in Thailand at Impact Arena on February 18, and around 9,000 audience members came to their concert.

2PM sang their hit songs including the title song of their second album entitled "Hands Up" during the concert. Group member Nichkhun, who hails from Thailand, received a standing ovation when singing the song of a Thai singer named Bird.

The audience enthusiastically cheered for the group members during the concert that lasted for more than two hours. The fans produced a special video to deliver their appreciation for 2PM, who had donated for people in Thailand when there was a huge flood last year, and the group members shed tears after watching the video.

In addition, JYP revealed that when 2PM held the fan meeting entitled "High-Touch" on February 17 at Siam Center Square, around 3,000 audience members came to the venue, and when they held a press conference on the same day at Impact Arena, major news media outlets came to the venue and competed to cover the story. During the press conference, 2PM said that they will donate a part of the profits from the concert in Thailand to the Thai Red Cross.

2PM will continue their Asian concert tour in Nanjing on February and in Hong Kong on March 10.

Song Joong Ki as new face of Seoul Milk


Actor Song Joong Ki has been selected as the new model for Seoul Milk

According to Seoul Milk's representative, "Song Joong Ki has been appointed as the new model of Seoul Milk to highlight the usefulness of the brand’s milk production date tags. He fits in with that image because he has a fresh image himself, and also viewers trust him because he tries his best in every new project."

In the past, Lee Seung GiCha Doori, and Lee Moon Sae have been models for Seoul Milk.

In related news, Song Joong Ki also been chosen as the newest model for Coca-cola beverage "Sprite". Currently, the actor is filming for his new movie "Teenage Werewolf."

Taecyeon to release album with schoolmates


2PM member Taecyeon and fellow students at Dangook University will be releasing a digital single album.

On February 21st, Taecyeon, a 4th-year student in the School of Business Administration at Dangook, along with "Blue Bears", a group of music students, announced to release a digital album on February 29th. This is the first time a Korean university is releasing a digital album through students’ own talents.

The album includes "Wings", a song penned by the group and "A Night Like Tonight", a remake of a hit 1990 song. Taecyeon will write the lyrics and rap for both songs and appear in the music video for "Wings".

Donghae still cries everytime he receives an award

Super Junior‘s Donghae confessed that he still cries whenever Super Junior receives an award.
Donghae recently worked with ELLE Girl magazine for a special spread in their March issue. During the interview portion of the shoot, Donghae opened up about the global popularity of Super Junior.
I think the popularity of K-pop will continue to increase,” he said. “We constantly get requests from places like Chile and Australia, and we’re sorry that we haven’t been able to visit them yet. I wish we can spend an entire year on a complete world tour.”
He continued, “I still cry whenever we receive awards. Our members had promised to work hard in order to receive awards and set records that only Super Junior could set. I am happy that we were able to live up to this promise.”

miss A’s ‘Touch’ MV records over 1 million views on YouTube

In just one day, miss A has garnered over a million views on YouTube with their latest song, “Touch“!
On February 20th, miss A made a hot comeback with their new mini-album, ‘Touch’. Their title song (also titled “Touch”) achieved an instant all-kill on various music charts, and furthermore, its music video immediately hit #1 on the famous Chinese music video chart, Yin Yue Tai.
Adding to this explosive popularity, the music video also recorded over a million views on YouTube on the same day.
Representatives of AQ Entertainment released a statement saying, “Since YouTube is a platform used by fans from all over the world, we are thankful for the vast interest that miss A’s new song has attained. Please look forward to their live performances, which will be even more dramatic than the music video.
In related news, miss A will be making their first live comeback on February 23rd’s episode of ‘M! Countdown‘.

Jiyeon transforms into a catwoman in ‘Dream High 2′

T-ara‘s Jiyeon, who is currently playing the role of Rian on KBS2TV‘s ‘Dream High 2‘, transformed from a ‘mirror princess’ to a fluffy ‘catwoman’ for the upcoming episode.
Rian is an idol who dreams of becoming an actress but lacks the skills. Because of Rian’s nosy mother, who suddenly attempts remove her suffering daughter from OZ Entertainment, the agency’s president begins to disfavor Rian. Much to her humiliation, Rian ends up being sent to the countryside to sing a congratulatory song for the Miss Apple Pageant.
However, this was not the end of her embarrassment. Rian even had to wear a catwoman mask while singing in front of a loud, hostile crowd. With nothing left but her dignity, it seems that this scene, on top of Rian’s bad acting, will bring viewer’s much laughter.
Meanwhile, on seventh episode of ‘Dream High 2′, which will air on February 20th, Haesung (Kang Sora) will be deciding on transferring schools, while JB, who discovers a new side of Haesung, ends up visiting her home. Also, Rian rides the bus with Eugene (2AM‘s Jinwoon) to attend the Miss Apple Pageant, which coincidentally happens to take place in Haesung’s hometown. With the official start of the love quadrangle, it seems that many viewers are in high anticipation for the upcoming episode.

Super Junior concludes ‘Super Show 4′ in Singapore

Dubbed the ‘Kings of Hallyu’, the male group Super Junior recently completed a successful show in Singapore, in addition to their shows in Korea and Japan.
The members were recently in Singapore for their ‘SUPER JUNIOR WORLD TOUR SUPER SHOW 4‘ that took place at Singapore Indoor Stadium February 18th & 19th. The boys were met with an audience that did not hold back their fervent cheers, and the boys were able to wrap up a successful show.
They opened the show with “Superman” from their 5th full-length album, and performed 36 hit songs total, including “Sorry Sorry“, “Bonamana“, and “Mr. Simple“. There was reportedly a lot to see at the concert, as the boys utilized wires and even incorporated a fountain show into their performance, earning the praise of the audience.
The boys also had independent stages that displayed each of their charm and wit. Member Shindongput on dance performances to songs “Trouble Maker” and “Bubble Pop“, while member Yesungemotionally sang “One Man” to melt the hearts of his fans.
The local fans who came out to see their favorite K-pop idol not only waved their glo-sticks and sang along with the Korean songs perfectly, they even flawlessly emulated the Korean-style ‘cheers’ which only further brought up the excitement and energy at the event.
The boys’ popularity in Singapore was extremely evident. Ahead of their concert, a large crowd of fans gathered at the airport to catch a glimpse of the boys upon their arrival, and many media outlets such as Lianhe WanbaoiWeekly, and XINMSN gathered to ask questions at the press conference held on February 19th.

Nicole performs at concert despite ankle injury

KARA‘s Nicole who badly injured her ankle at KARA’s first independent concert, KARASIA stepped on stage the following day with her foot wrapped in a cast.
Nicole had a solo performance at KARA’s independent concert which took place at Olympic Park on February 18th, and injured her foot while exiting the stage. No one was sure whether she would be able to continue with the following performances, but Nicole endured the pain and stood on stage the next day.
KARA’s agency DSP Media stated, “Even after she hurt her foot the first day, Nicole finished the entire performance despite her injury. When it was over, we called in an acupuncturist and took emergency measures. We were told that she would have to wear a half-cast and that she would not be able to partake in the performances to follow.”
Despite her circumstance, Nicole was determined not to give up, as she did not want to miss KARA’s first ever independent concert,” they continued.
Her determination showed, as Nicole well performed “Beat It“, a song that requires intense choreography.

Park Gyuri to undergo vocal cord surgery

KARA‘s leader Park Gyuri will be undergoing surgery.
On February 20th, KARA’s agency DSP Media reported, “Park Gyuri will be undergoing surgery on February 21st to remove nodules and polyps that have been found in her vocal cords.”
Although Gyuri knew about her condition, she postponed her surgery in order to perform in musical ‘200 Pound Beauty‘ in which she played a leading role, and to perform at the first few shows of KARA’s first independent concert ‘KARASIA‘.
It even became difficult for Gyuri to speak clearly while MCing MBC‘s ‘Rooloolala‘, which upset many of her fans.
DSP Media continued, “Gyuri’s priority is to focus on rehab to ensure a speedy recovery. KARA has an Asia Tour that kicks off in Japan this April, so we are going with a special rehab program that will allow Gyuri to fully recover before then.”
