’3rd Idol Star Athletics Championships’ wrap-up

On September 13th, MBC‘s ‘Idol Star Athletics Championships‘ came back for the third time with a 3-hour special divided into two parts.

Participating stars included Super Junior, SHINee, SISTAR, miss A, Davichi, ZE:A, T-ara, MBLAQ, INFINITE, G.NA, Rainbow, Jewelry, TEEN TOP, Dal Shabet, B1A4, A Pink, 5dolls, Hwanhee, 8Eight, Mighty Mouth, Min Kyung Hoon, Boyfriend, Brave Girls, X-Cross, Rania, Dalmatian, Sunny Hill, Nine Muses, Baek Chung Gang, David Oh, Kwon Ri Sae, Lee Tae Kwon, and Kim Kyung Jin for a total of a 140-member cast.

The episode was recorded back on August 27th to the cheers of 10,000 fans. Hosted by Kim Je Dong, Boom, and Oh Sang Jin, matches included the 100m co-ed race, men’s 110m hurdles, women’s 100m hurdles, co-ed 400m relay, co-ed high jumps, men’s long jumps, and the co-ed 200m relay.

The idol group that came out on top was none other than ZE:A, earning a total of four crowns with theirStar Empire labelmates.

The newly added men’s 200m walking relay added some amusement to the show because all of the teams were disqualified despite the match being held twice.

Idols trip and laugh at ’3rd Idol Star Athletics Championships’

While participating in MBC‘s “3rd Idol Star Athletics Championships“, many idol stars fell, helped each other up, and shared laughs under the hot sun.

On the September 13th, viewers saw Baek Chung Gang and Davichi‘s Kang Min Kyung both fall during their respective male and female 100m races.

Baek Chung Gang dashed and gained speed in the beginning, but he unfortunately missed his step and fell. After seeing him go down, Super Junior‘s Sungmin and Leeteuk immediately ran to Baek Chung Gang and kindly helped him get back on his feet.

Similarly, Kang Min Kyung fell at the beginning of her race as well, but she got up, brushed herself off, and kept her cool like nothing ever happened.

In addition to the two falls, Shindong suddenly stopped while running and flopped down on the track. His fellow Super Junior members randomly appeared with an umbrella and gave a good laugh to the spectators.

KARA’s Goo Hara makes a surprise phone call to Gyuri’s radio show

KARA‘s Goo Hara expressed her disappointment when fellow member Park Gyuri was unable to recognize her voice over the phone.

On September 12th, Hara made a surprise call to Gyuri’s radio show, MBC FM‘s ‘Shindong, Park Gyuri‘s Shimshimtapa‘. When Hara refused to reveal her identity, Gyuri asked, “Are you an athlete?”to which Hara sadly replied, “Unni, I’m disappointed~ It’s me, Hara.”

Afterwards, Gyuri asked, “With KARA making a comeback through a new album, how do you feel?”,Hara answered, “I’m nervous because I haven’t done a broadcast in a while. I’m happy because we can show a different, upgraded image of KARA. We will show you the second level of the ‘butt dance’.”

Netizens commented, “Did Park Gyuri really not know? I’m not so sure…”, and “Park Gyuri’s laidback personality is her charm~ Hara’s voice is so cute and pretty.”

KARA released a new album titled ‘STEP‘ after a 10-month hiatus, and will be making their music show comebacks this week.

‘Idol Athletics’ aims to be the top Chuseok Special

Featuring a star line-up including Super Junior, SHINee, T-ara, and other top idols, along with celebrities from other fields, the ‘Idol Athletics‘ show is already raking in plenty of attention.

For MBC‘s 3rd annual ‘Idol Athletics’ program, in addition to those mentioned above, about 150 stars, including MBLAQ, Sistar, Infinite, and other idols; as well as ‘Birth of a Great Star‘ breakout’s Baek Chung Gang, Lee Tae Kwon, David Oh, and Kwon Ri Sae will be participating in sports competitions.

Specifically, male and female celebrities will be compete in the 100m dash, high jump, long jump, and other track events. Additionally, special performances by comedian Boom and Super Junior are among the many surprise events MBC has planned for audiences.

The competition has received high viewer ratings in previous years as the program offers a rare opportunity to see countless top stars reach for the number one spot by showing their competitive spirit and athleticism. In fact, this year approximately 10,000 fans attending the taping to cheer on their idols.

As this year’s Chuseok specials are struggling to reach decent viewer ratings, the anxiety for how well the ’2011 Idol Athletics’ program will perform is peaking.

MBC’s ‘Idol Athletics’ will broadcast at 5:30PM, September 13th (KST), as a 2-hour, 2-part special.

KARA’s Seungyeon spends the last moments of Chuseok with her puppy

Han Seungyeon posted an adorable photo with her young puppy recently on Twitter, much to the delight of KARA fans.

Seungyeon tweeted on the 12th, “Chuseok. Only 7 minutes left. There’s nothing to eat. I keep wanting to eat. My Chuseok was in the basement and sky. Did you all have a good Chuseok?”, along with a photo of herself with the puppy in her arms.

Followers commented, “Cute,” “I’m jealous of the puppy,” and “I hope you spend the rest of Chuseok well.”
