After making headlines for having claimed to have turned down an exceptional offer for an alcohol advertising deal
, girl group T-ara is now under fire for serving as the models for a Pachinko game in Japan.
In Japan, T-ara has been chosen to be the models of a new Pachinko machine called ‘CRA Deluxe Umi Montogatari’. The group is set to head to Japan on the 24th, for the launch event of the Pachinko model.
Recently, some concept pictures and ads for the pachinko featuring the T-ara members were revealed online and are currently receiving criticisms from the netizens. Since Pachinko is a Japanese mechanical game frequently used as a gambling device, some netizens pointed out, “T-ara doesn’t do ads for alcohol, but will do them for gambling?”
Just a day before, T-ara’s agency, Core Contents Media stated that the group turned down the offer to promote an alcohol brand due to the potential influence it could have on minors.
The agency responded to the issue saying, “It’s true T-ara did ads for this product, but it’s not a gambling product. Hallyu actors and KARA have also done advertisements for pachinko machines.”
