Super Junior shares thoughts on TVXQ comparison

Hallyu group Super Junior shared their thoughts regarding on the recent TVXQ comparison as well as on their increasing popularity in Japanese market.

On May 13th, Super Junior held a press conference for their ‘Super Show 4’ concert at the Tokyo Dome. During the conference, Super Junior’s leader Leeteuk started off by saying, “I think we greatly benefited from the Hallyu Wave.”

When asked about the comparisons to labelmates TVXQ, Leeteuk replied, “A lot of people compare our popularity to DBSK, but we really have a long way to go. TVXQ’s fandom is bigger than you can ever imagine. TVXQ first started with small-scale concerts with only 500 seats when they first came to Japan.”

He continued, “In comparison, we never had any real promotions or activities in Japan but we received a lot of love because of K-Pop’s overall popularity. We are considering creating a unit in Japan in order to return the love that we received.”

Meanwhile, Super Junior kicked off their ‘Super Show 4’ concert in Tokyo Dome on May 12 and 13, bringing a crowd of over 55,000 on both shows.
