SHINee who is currently promoting “Sherlock” after 1 and a half year hiatus will be promoting their latest song for only four weeks. The same goes for Korean band CNBLUE who is back after one year with their title song “Hey You“, they will also be promoting their song for four weeks. It is actually half the period for normal promotional period before. This short promotional period which is caused by pressing schedules and activities both inside and outside the country, has become a trend among singers nowadays.
As for CNBLUE, the reason for their short promotion is because of their members Kang Minhyuk and Lee Jonghyun‘s schedules. Kang Minhyuk is currently acting in KBS weekend drama “My Husband Got a Family” and lead guitarist Lee Jonghyun will also be acting in the upcoming SBS weekend drama “A Gentleman’s Dignity” scheduled to air in end of May.
Kpop singers’ domestic activities are shortened due to the busy schedules they have overseas and also because they are expanding their talents by acting in dramas, movies et cetera.
This is why these singers only have a short span of time topping the charts. The performances they do on music shows are basically for promotional purposes only. In other words, they are done in order to score the broadcast points. The recent change in the length of promotional period would give these singers 1-2 weeks to top the charts.
