KARA’s single “Speed Up/Girl’s Power” goes Gold in Japan

KARA achieved another accolade in Japan.
KARA’s sixth Japanese single “Speed Up/Girl’s Power” released on March 21st has been acknowledged as ‘Gold’ by the RIAJ (Recording Industry Association of Japan).
When an album sells more than 100,000 copies, the Association publicly acknowledges the artist’s achievement, labeling the album as a ‘Gold’ album. KARA’s single “Speed Up/Girl’s Power” has climbed to #2 on the Oricon Weekly Chart and has sold more than 120,000 copies to date.
Every single that KARA released in Japan up to this point has been acknowledged as ‘Gold’. If you include their albums and DVDs, KARA currently has 11 ‘Gold’ accolades altogether.
KARA is also the only girl group from Korea to have over 10 albums acknowledged as Gold in Japan, and are the 3rd Korean artist to achieve this feat after BoA and TVXQ
The girls will be embarking on their nationwide Japan tour starting on April 14th, covering Nagoya, Osaka, Fukuoka, Tokyo and more. Over 100,000 fans total will be gathering to see the girls perform, and the tour sold out immediately after going on sale March 24th. Fans have been putting in incessant requests for additional performances, and KARA has added additional performances on May 26th and 27th at the Saitama Super Arena for 15,000 fans.
