Girl group KARA has once again been acknowledged for their popularity in Japan for the year 2011.
Japan’s music chart and magazine Oricon Style released a ranking of 10 artists that made Japan’s entertainment world shine in 2011.
In this ranking, Japanese girl group AKB48 took first place, then child actress Ashida Mana, then boy group Arashi. In fifth place was KARA, the only Korean group to make the list.
KARA was able to beat SMAP, a very popular Japanese group. Oricon’s rep called KARA “the representative girl group that is leading the K-pop boom in Japan”.
KARA had numerous hits in Japan this year with “Mister,” “Go Go Summer,” “Jet Coast Love” and more that all topped the Oricon.
Congratulations, girls!
