Kara surpasses 500,000 sales mark with Japanese debut album


Girl group Kara continue to enjoy sweeping popularity in Japan as their debut single album "Girl Talk" has sold more than 500,000 copies in the country.

On November 22nd, DSP Media revealed, "More than 500,000 copies (501,999) of Kara’s Girl Talk, which was released last December, have been shipped out as of November 18."

"Girl's Talk" was an instant hit with sales of over 10,000 copies during the first week of release, claiming a certified gold. Fans continue to snap it up for almost a year making the album surpassed the 500,000 mark in records sold.

Continuing the heat of Kara's popularity, their second Japanese album "Super Girl", which was released today, has received more than 360,000 preorders. In addition, the album recently ranked first on Japan's iTunes store in terms of downloads.

The new album will include their current single "Winter Magic" and the previously released singles "Jetcoaster Love" and "Go Go Summer".

Meanwhile, Kara has been nominated for the most coveted Excellence Award at the 53rd Japan Record Awards on December 30th.
