Park Gyuri, lead singer of girl group Kara, is hoping she can continue her acting and singing success in Korea with her starring role in the musical "200 Pounds Beauty", which has been winning over fans and critics alike in Osaka since Oct. 8.
The musical will wrap up its run in the Japanese city on Nov. 6 and the Korean version is scheduled to kick off on Dec. 6 at Chungmu Art Hall until Feb. 5, with an Asia-wide tour being planned after that.
"200 Pounds Beauty" is a musical adaptation of the eponymous film about a 125 kg woman who transforms from an ugly duckling into a stunner with the aid of plastic surgery.
"I'm very happy that Japanese audiences have shown so much love and support for the musical. They love it so much, thankfully, but I believe there is still room for much improvement. I will do my best to improve every day", said Park.
