On June 8th, K-pop fans from all over Europe flocked to Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris to greetTVXQ, SHINee, and f(x). The idols flew in from Korea to begin preparations for the ”SM Town Live in Paris” concert that’ll be held later on this week.
Over 1,500 fans from all over Europe began filling the airport two hours before the stars were scheduled to arrive. Fans could be seen wearing T-shirts and holding various placards with the names of their favorite members; there was even a South Korean flag in front of the 2E gate.
One SHINee fan named Mari (16) commented, “I won’t be able to attend the concert because the tickets sold out so fast. I decided to come to the airport early in the morning instead with the hopes of seeing the members here. It’s both surprising and exciting to be able to see the SM artists here in Paris.”
TVXQ emerged from the gate 30 minutes later than scheduled, but the duo, along with junior artists SHINee and f(x), were all smiles, as if the 12 hour-long flight didn’t affect them at all.
Some of the idols couldn’t hide their surprise at seeing the large crowd waiting for them, as they went wide-eyed over the spectacle.
Representatives of SM Entertainment stated, “We didn’t even think of this happening, but so many European fans came. Because of the crowd, the members weren’t able to leave the gate on time. Everyone is happy over the positive reactions SM artists are receiving as the first Korean acts in Paris.”
To maintain order, over 50 local policemen were employed to prevent any accidents from happening. Guide lines were set up and head counts on reporters had to be done before the stars could head out.
The members were eventually escorted out of the airport with the help of police, and were taken by SM staff to their hotels right away.
“SM Town Live in Paris” will be held for two days on June 10th and 11th. Fans who aren’t able to attend will be able to watch it live through SM Entertainment’s Facebook and YouTube.
