When 4Minute released their title track songs for their album, namely, 'Heart to Heart' and 'Mirror Mirror,' their fans were at first puzzled about the real concept they wanted to present.
They did not give much expectations on the album, nor thought of getting higher rankings because of the tight competition. "Producers would often listen to the sound of the songs and then after 3 days or so, they can tell whether the song will be successful or not. It is hard to survive most especially when new songs come out so quickly," one explained. 4Minute says, "In our music industry, we thought that in order to be popular, we should sing catchy songs which are new to the ears of the public and at the same time, answer public's high expectations. Fans would also tell us the very same thing."
However, the "opposite" of their thoughts happened to be materialized. 4Minute's title track, 'Mirror Mirror,'eventually swept different music charts and soon enough, reached the top. Critics would say, "4Minute's charm is on their live performances. Whenever 4Minute performs on stage, they give off this powerful and dynamic charm which made the song more attractive to the audience, and later on, caused its success on different music charts."

On a recent interview with 4Minute, they expressed their worries about gaining less interests from the public.
"After receiving some unexpected comments, I just thought that they might change their ideas about the song once we start performing it on stage," Kim HyunA exclaimed.
"Fans would usually tell you the truth; thus, we decided to do much better in every stage performances, so that we can get more favorable response." (Nam Jihyun)
4Minute also got into numerous controversies, particularly, the issue which concerns about the "spread-leg dance." There had been unstoppable debates with regards to its sensuality which eventually made the members of the group, sad and disappointed.
"I never thought that this dance would be such an issue," Kwon Sohyun revealed. She continued, 'Our dance choreography was all over different forum-discussion boards. Slow-motion version of our videos were circulated all over the internet that made the issue become more of a bigger topic. We were really disappointed; however, we just tried to think positively telling ourselves that through that, the song received more attention. I guess, people really focused more into our performances than our song."
Korea's music industry has been facing "Massive Girl Group Debuts." However, 4Minute confidently says, "We all think that we have our unique color; yet instead of just always showing you our cool and powerful image all the time, for now, we would also want to show everyone that we're pretty." Heo Gayoon admitted, "When I learned about the 'Mirror mirror on the wall' concept, I thought like we'll just have to sing prettily, but later on, I realized that as we grow older and be more mature, our color would eventually change. This song allowed me to feel like I'm performing more like of my real age."

Last year, in May, right after releasing their songs: "HUH" and "I My Me Mine," they instantly went into a long-year hiatus in Korea's music industry; thus making their comeback more frustrating and burdensome. According to their initial plans, they were supposed to do their comeback at the beginning of the year; however, with their aims of recording their songs perfectly and meeting their fans with a surprising and successful comeback, they had to push it 'till April. Their hard work has obviously been paying off for 'Mirror Mirror' continues to be a big hit and constantly receives good results.
When the group was asked about their future plans, the girls gave a unique answer by saying, "As a group, we would like to be more like of a hot pot made of stone."
The girls were asked to explain and this is what they said, "As a group, we won't like to be just the normal pot. Like a stone pot being heated slowly, we'd like to experience that warmth of love within the group in a slow manner but a longer period of time."
