From June 16 to 17, various K-pop groups such as KARA, Rainbow, CN Blue, 2PM and Leessang will join forces with J-pop groups to perform at the “Love-1 Festival” to take place in Osaka.

The Japanese music festival is in its second season this year, kicking off last year in July as the first all-day outdoor K-pop concert event. More than 20,000 fans flocked to last year’s show.

“Love-1 Festival” is known for its emphasis on promoting volunteerism and respect for the environment via its music and sports events.

The participating K-pop acts are all very popular in Japan.

In April, KARA kicked off the Japanese leg of its Asian tour “Karasia” in Yokohama. The group will be busy touring around Nagoya, Osaka, Fukuoka, Tokyo and Saitama until late May.

In total, KARA will perform in front of more than 130,000 Japanese fans.

Meanwhile, boy band 2PM is set to release a new EP in Japan on June 6.

Super Junior still a Japanese favorite

By selling more than 54,331 copies of its new single “Opera” on the day of its release, Super Junior came in third place on the daily Oricon chart in Japan on Wednesday. The next day, an additional 15,608 copies of the album were sold, helping the band maintain the same position.

The new album contains three tracks and is available in three different versions: CD+DVD, CD limited edition and CD only. Each limited edition album comes with a puzzle piece featuring one of the nine Super Junior members.

And Japan isn’t the only foreign nation where the boys are topping the charts.

“Mr. Simple” from Super Junior’s fifth album remained at No. 1 on Taiwanese Web site KKBox’s Weekly K-pop 100 Chart for 37 consecutive weeks, the group’s agency said on April 28.

Previously, “Beauty” was No. 1 on the same chart from June 2010 until August 2011 for 63 consecutive weeks.

EMI Music's "EMI SHINee.App" Application for Android!

EMI Music has come out with a new SHINee application.

The app comes free-of-charge, featuring a handy listing of the latest SHINee news, official videos, and a handy route map showing the location of SHINee's concert venues. (For example, SHINee's Tokyo venue/concert dates are shown in the screenshot.) A profile of SHINee is also included for newcomers. The app was created as a sort of companion to SHINee's Japanese tour. Although it is only available for the Android for now, an iPhone version is currently being worked on.

The app may be downloaded through Google here.
