Goo Hara re-signs contract with DSP Media

Singer Goo Hara of KARA has agreed to stay with DSP Media.
According to Star In, Goo Hara displayed her determination to stay with her current label by renewing her contract. An entertainment industry insider remarked, “Goo Hara has expressed her desire to stay with DSP Media. She will most likely stay with the label for the next two years as a member of KARA.”
If this insider is correct, Goo Hara will most likely stay with DSP Media at least until early 2014.
Since Goo Hara’s former contract with DSP Media was scheduled to come to an end this August, rumors were beginning to spread that Goo Hara would not re-sign. Different from the other KARA members Kang Jiyoung, Park Gyuri, Jung Nicole, and Han Seungyeon, the rumors stated that Goo Hara wanted to go solo. Some circles even began reporting Goo Hara’s annual profit value estimated at 8.8 million USD and watching her next move, while others were criticizing her for wanting to break away.
DSP Media responded to these rumors saying, “KARA’s contract with Japanese album distribution company Universal Music came to an end in August of 2010, and I think there was a misunderstanding because August of 2012 is around the time their new contract terminates. We would like to let you know that all the members of KARA have two years or more left with DSP Media.”
The public’s response to Goo Hara resigning with DSP Media has been positive. Goo Hara felt it was important to re-sign with DSP Media as they are the label that she’s grown with, and she wanted to maintain her relationship with her label representatives, her fans, and most importantly, her KARA members. An insider from the entertainment industry remarked, “As soon as the rumors started to say that she would be the only member to leave DSP Media, she felt a need to prove her strong intent to stay with her agency.”
DSP Media is reportedly fine tuning the details after receiving Goo Hara’s proposal.

Goo Hara’s stunning, pink rose-like makeup for Nature Republic

A new photo of KARA‘s Goo Hara for cosmetic brand Nature Republic is drawing attention for her pink, rose-like beauty.
Nature Republic’s 2012 Spring makeup look features pink pastels and a “rose glam” look, which help express the loveliness of a young girl.
This season’s “rose glam” look consists of shining, flawless skin, accentuated by a pink tone blush that women will love, and shiny, jewel-like lips. The look is meant to express a mature, romantic image, and Goo Hara was able to show off her pure, innocent beauty with the look.
Nature Republic released new shades of eye shadow, blush, and lip gloss to match the liveliness of the spring season, but their “Shine Blossom Rose Blush” line stands out the most. The blushes feature soft, innocent pinks, and the addition of Bulgarian rose oil helps the skin retain moisture and shine, while its light, rose fragrance adds to the overall bright feeling of the blushes.
To achieve her flawless skin, Goo Hara wore  a thin layer of Nature Republic’s “SuperOrigin Collagen BB Cream SPF 25 PA++,” which was then set with “Orchid Secret Powder Pact SPF 35 PA+++.”  Her high cheekbones were accentuated with “Lovely Rose” blush from the “Shine Blossom Rose Blush” line, which was dusted on with a puff starting from the outside of her face moving inwards.
Hara’s eyes were brightened by “Nature Island Sparkle Shadow- Sparkle Rose,” and her eyes were defined by applying “Changing Blossom Gold Mascara,” which added volume to her eyelashes. Finally, she wore “Shine Blossom Rose Gloss- Pink Rose” for moist, plump lips, which completed her makeup to transform her into an innocent but lively-looking girl.

Kirin Arts underdogs turn the tables on idols

In the 9th episode of KBS‘s ‘Dream High 2‘, the Kirin Arts underdogs transformed into super idols. By practicing diligently and confronting the meaning of dreams, the students performed a sweet song as they competed against the OZ Entertainment idols in an audition process to become the next super idol.
Talent producer and composer Shin Jae In (Yoon Hee Sook) arranged a competition to recruit the superior Kirin Arts students for a ‘super idol’ group. Under Teacher Tae Yeon, the ‘ugly duckling’ team is composed of Yoo Jin (2AM‘s Jinwoon), Soon Doong (Yoo Sooyoung), Ui Bong (Jr), Hong Joo (Kim Ji Soo), Lee Seul (Jung Yeon Joo), and later joined by Hae Sung (Kang Sora). With the theme of the performances as ‘B’, the students first interpret it as singer Rain. However, with their teacher’s support and encouragement, the ‘B’ theme transforms into an idea that is more corresponding to the students’ personalities.
As Shin Haesung returns to the Kirin Arts School with a newfound confidence and ambition, the students transform their ‘inferior B level’ to a song full of hope. Not only were the stars finally able to showcase their true talent with their singing and dancing, but Haesung moved the crowd with an explanation of the concept. Drawing in her own confrontation with ‘hopeless dreams’, she explains,
At any school, there are always the superior and inferior students. The names are only different, but ‘A’ and ‘B’ exist. Only a few days ago, I had left this school. I was ashamed that I didn’t have talent in singing, so I ran away. I want to ask everyone this. Are dreams only for those who have talent? If you don’t have talent, should you not dream? If you want to dream, you need to close your eyes. If you close your eyes, it doesn’t matter how other people see you. When you close your eyes, you don’t see how other people see you, but you face your true self. When I closed my eyes, the person I faced said ‘Don’t give up on dreams.’ Because dreams are not only for the talented, but for those who dream…This song is for those who hurt because of their dreams, who are about to give up their dreams, those B-level, 3rd level, inferior, all those B-level people.
Check out their performance of “We are the B“.

[Note: This post reflects the opinions of the author and not necessarily those of allkpop.]
Throwing up a “Hallelujah” when Haesung gave the little exposition on the song, I was not only emotionally moved but also was relieved with the heartwarming connection the definition of ‘dreams’ was finally able to bring us. Not only did the performance and practices showcase the diligence and heartache in achieving these dreams, but it integrated the underlying competition between “underdogs” and “idols”, the ultimate question of talent. A refreshing start for Haesung, who sheds her dejected and languished image, the speech is heartfelt because we’ve felt that before. That pang of understanding when we feel “inferior” or “worthless”, when we face that dead end failures and question ourselves, and not our perspective.
The song itself is not only beautiful (and will be playing consistently on my iPod), but it matches the friendship and bittersweet experience of these underdogs. The students are able to employ the ‘underdog’ status as a trophy, rather than as a handicap, like Teacher Taeyeon had done when she asked the talent producer for a hint. It not only adds layers to the thematic plot, but also to the character development that had caused many viewers to drop out halfway throughout the ride. With this performance, the students are finally beginning the path to transforming to that ‘B-level’ status.
Do you think the underdogs have a chance now to beat the idols?
