KARA rises in the Oricon Daily Chart ranking 2nd behind Utada Hikaru

KARA is aiming for the top and does even better at the Oricon Daily Chart for their new album.

It has been reported on the 25th that KARA's first Japanese album "Girls Talk" has rose 1 spot after debuting third in the charts and came in 2nd. Their album contains 10 songs and the songs "SOS" and "Jumping" are experiencing popularity as well.

KARA is now aiming for their 2nd gold after getting their first certified gold with their 'KARA BEST 2007-2010' album selling over 100,000 copies.

KARA debuted last August in Japan with their debut single "mister" and debuted 5th on the Oricon Weekly Charts.

on the 24th of November it was revealed that 2 korean groups were able to take the top 10 on the Oricon Daily Charts on albums. KARA was debuted 3rd in the charts with their first Japanese album "Girls Talk" and BEAST debuted 6th with their debut album "BEAST - JAPAN PREMIUM EDITION".

KARA's first Japanese album is being taken well and is getting popular especially the new songs such as "SOS" and "Baby I need You". Also, BEAST's album contains a special CD and DVD which includes all their music videos.

Meanwhile, BEAST will be performing in Tokyo, Japan on the 27th with an audience of over 10,000 and this will officially start their activities in Japan.

KARA members share their various ‘complexes’

The seemingly perfect girls of KARA revealed their various ‘inferiority complexes’ on KBS2TV’s recording of “Happy Together- Season 3“.

Gyuri said with her signature confidence, “My insecurity is my makeup-free face. My bare face is prettier than my makeup face“, causing a riot among the other guests.

Seungyeon joked, “My head is smaller than most people, so normal hats do not fit me well,” while Hara added to the hilarity by saying, “My complex is that I can’t gain weight.”

The youngest member, Jiyoung, topped it off by boldly stating, “I honestly don’t understand what an inferiority complex is.”

On this day, the KARA members also uncovered the reality of “Goddess Park Gyuri”.

Seungyeon said, “Singers attach in-ear microphones by taping them to their necks. But one day, I saw that Gyuri still had tape on her neck from the night before“.

Hara added to the embarrassment by explaining, “The other members have to re-style their hair because they wash it in the morning. However, Gyuri’s hair is still curled from having it styled the day before. She doesn’t wash her hair often.”

This hilarious episode also stars 2AM and Jun Hyun Mu and will be aired next week.

Co-Ed’s CEO regrets the use of the members’ long nicknames

While making an appearance on the November 24th broadcast of MBC’s “Radio Star,” participating members from T-ara and Co-Ed revealed that their company CEO had regretted about using such elaborate names for the Co-Ed members.

MC Kim Kuk Jin mused, “Your four-character names are much like TVXQ. One must have a certain level of pride in order to name yourselves after such a group; why did you?”

Co-Ed consists of unique names such as One Light Hyo Young, One Star Hyewon, Star Light Chanmi, Smile Soomi, Wise Taewoon, Rascal Kwang Haeng, Sky Earth Yoosung, Hot Blood Kangho, Balance Noori, and Solid Sungmin, all personally named by Kim Kwang Su, CEO of Core Contents Media.

T-ara’s Hyomin added, “When the member names for Co-Ed were first revealed, it didn’t receive a great response. The CEO must’ve seen the replies, as he asked me, ‘What do you think of the names?’ I replied that the reactions weren’t great and he began regretting it, saying, ‘I thought so.’”

Netizens commented, “Honestly, the member names are kind of much,” “Their comedic names made it easier to get used to them,” and “They have to go back to the naming center.”

Another segment of the show examined the reason behind T-ara’s need for a new member. When asked by MC Yoon Jong Shin why they decided to take on a new member, T-ara replied, “Ryu Hwa Young is the same age as maknae Jiyeon. Our CEO wanted to lower our average age so he added her.”

Kim Gura teases T-ara’s Jiyeon about her eyes

On this week’s episode of MBC’s ‘Radio Star’, MC Kim Gura exhibited his acid wit once more as he lightheartedly scrutinized T-ara Jiyeon’s eyes the moment she entered the set.

The comedian joked to Jiyeon, “It seems like your eyes have gotten closer together since the last time we last met? When I saw your eyes, I thought they were one.”

Laughing it off, Jiyeon brushed off the comment and said they weren’t, however the joke between the MCs didn’t stop there. MC Yoon Jong Shin commented, “Jiyeon’s face makes you focus on it more,”causing the whole set to burst into laughter.

Kim Gura added the final touch with, “Other stars make up this celebrity lineage of faces with close-set eyes too, like Kwak Jae Moon and Shin Dong Yeop.”

Kara wins gold in Japan with Best album

Korean female idol group Kara's best album released in Japan was recently certified a gold album.

The website for official Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) showed that Kara claimed gold disc status, handed to records which sell over 100,000 copies, with their first best album “KARA BEST 2007-2010” released in the country in late September.

The record, featuring twelve of Kara’s past hit Korean songs such as “Pretty Girl,” “Honey,” “Lupin” and “Mister,” had ranked at No. 2 on the prestigious Oricon daily and weekly albums chart and the most-downloaded album on iTunes Store Pop.

This is not Kara's first recognition by RIAJ -- their song “Mister,” the title track to their Japanese debut single, was certified gold as well in the mobile ringtone category after receiving over 100,000 paid downloads as of September this year.

The single album itself landed at fifth place on both Oricon’s daily and weekly chart upon its release on August 11, the achievement on the singles chart making Kara the first Asian female group to place in the top 10 slots.

Kara, composed of five members Gu Hara, Han Seung-yeon, Park Gyu-lee, Kang Ji-young and Nicole, debuted in 2007 and are well-known in Korea for their hit songs "Mister," "Wanna" and "Lupin."

They expanded their singing career into Japan in August of this year, which took off to a successful start by topping the preorder chart of major Japanese record retailer Tower Record and seeing their DVD "KARA VACATION" reach No. 1 on Oricon's weekly DVD chart.

Most recently, KARA released their second Japanese single “Jumping” on November 10 which immediately claimed fifth place on Japan’s weekly Oricon chart last week. The album was also released in Korea five days later.
